I think Outranking has a lot of potential
I'm an early adopter and bought the LTD from their website when they first launched. I jumped onboard because I could see the potential with how they were combining SEO information with the top SERPS to give you a solid picture to create an awesome article.
I outsource my content creation but here is my process. I create my article outlines using Outranking because I think they make it easy to pull in headers and outline from the top 20 SERPS. I also put the same keyword in Marketmuse and export the information there to help the writer with related topics to talk about. I think the combination is working so far but I will go through some of the pros and cons I see with Outranking.
Pros:
-Easy to pull in data from the top 20 SERPS to create fast and detailed content outlines
-Gives suggestions for Meta Title and Meta Description which is a great feature to have because freelancer writers don't always write those things for you
-They do a great job at giving you extra SEO info like questions people also ask and questions that have search volume behind them
Cons:
-I think the Related Keywords needs a lot of improvement. The suggestions seem more like keywords that could have a completely new article written about them because the topic is so big. For example, if I am writing about "b2b marketing automation", the suggested related keyword is "b2b marketing" with 6600 searches per month. That is a related keyword but shouldn't be included in the article because it is probably better suited as a "Pillar page".
-At the moment, the AI generates okay outputs but not amazing. I personally use it to extract main talking points from a paragraph so my writer and write something better.
-The topic coverage is pretty good but I still find some variation between what Outranking says and what Marketmuse says so I tend to trust Marketmuse more at the moment since it is a bit more established
Overall, I think Outranking is a great product and is going in the right direction (minus the complaints about low AI credits, which I can understand the points on both sides of the argument). I would definitely think you should try it out because it has way more pros than cons as far as I am concerned.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars because I think related keywords suggestions could improve and I think it is missing a feature. I would want Outranking to pull in keywords that the top 20 SERPS are ranking for and make sure those are used in the article (similar to topic coverage but with the difficulty score and search volume per month). It would basically be like a keyword gap analysis tool but per article, not for the entire website. Semrush does something similar to this with their SEO writing assistant tool and it really helps

May 9, 2024Thank you for the very detailed review we really appreciate it.
We do have the mapping of keywords to SERP data that is often lost in the UI. There is an "S" icon next to the keyword in the Related keywords tab that shows that the keyword has been mentioned in the SERP data. If the "S" is not there, then that means it is not present.
Visual improvement to spot information more easily is on the roadmap.
