Q: 301 domain redirect is not working as expected.
Godaddy says that the host company has to make the necessary settings.
I have put 301 redirect from www.example.com to example.com
However my domain https://www.example.com does not open (when full URL with https:// is typed). This has caused much distress.
It redirects only if we enter www.example.com (without https) or enter http://www.example.com (starting http and not https).
I have lost a massive ppc traffic in these few days . Google has stopped showing my ads and there is no campaign traffic once this redirect is implemented. Kindly advise.

May 14, 2024A: You are facing this problem because you have not set a CNAME record in your DNS settings, please add a CNAME record to your DNS settings.
You can check if the CNAME record is set from this link: https://www.whatsmydns.net/#CNAME/www.example.com

Last time in the support I was said 301 redirect should be done as pagemaker.io does not support www . However 301 redirect does not allow to enter cname redirect as well (there will be conflict). If we are clear on these things , it would be very helpful. 301 redirect will help me take the seo juice to my site . But cname redirect will not do that.
Can we have complete redirect only with 301 redirect?

My question is can 301 redirect (via domain provider such as godaddy) and cname redirect be implemented at the same time? I believe it is not possible. As Godaddy does not allow me to enter the cname record for redirect when 301 redirect is already there.
Based on the discussion with our technical experts, we suggest that you consider hosting your website with "WWW" on another server and setting up a 301 redirection from there.
This may help to resolve the issue you are facing. Please let us know if you need any assistance with this process.

This is a very interesting idea and I really liked it. I guess this solves the problem. Thank you for suggestion. I wish the suggestion had come bit early :-)
Many people dont seem to realise that pagemaker is a plug and play builder which I absolutely like. My only crib was about this redirect issue and with this suggestion, what a huge relief it is.
My suggestion to all who had existing ppc campaign with https://www:
1. Don't use 301 redirect from your domain provider . That will definitely confuse google because your site will never open in https://www.example.com (which you would have given as a final url in google). It is better to just insert the cname (though that will take away some seo juice.
2. Once I removed 301 redirect and made cname entry (akin to 302 redirect), my campaign started having impressions again.
3. Now I will go one step further and do "301" redirect of my www domain from my shared host to my non www domain in pagemaker and see what happens.
Overall this is an excellent idea and will help if you own other saas which dont support 301 redirect. Only caveat is you need to have a host (shared or small vps)
