Q: Paperguide VS Afforai
Hi
1} How does Paperguide compare to Afforai, another Appsumo research tool that was on Appsumo before summer?
2) You mention 20 calls in T1 and 50 calls in T2, does mean calls like prompts?
3) only possible to upload PDF or docx ? No option to upload urls ? And if not, is this maybe planned in the future?
4) What about OCR for PDF? Does papergudie OCR the pdf you upload?
5) Which AI models is paperguide using?
Thank you

Edited Oct 28, 2024A: Hi Yorgos,
Thanks for your questions.
1. To compare broadly, Paperguide and Afforai have some similar features for research and reference management but where Paperguide stands out is in the depth of AI research support it provides through its Literature Review and Data Extraction features. With literature review feature, users can find relevant research papers with just a simple prompt and can compare multiple papers along 50 different dimensions to evaluate them. With data extraction feature, users can extract and compare 100 documents from their reference manager in one go across 50 different parameters (which can be based on their own definitions or using default options). And there is no limit for data extractions with paperguide LTD deals.
Paperguide reference manager and AfforAI reference manager has more or less same features.
Apart from that, Paperguide also has AI writing assistant (with in-built automatic citations and referencing, plagiarism checks and writing style improvements) that makes it an end-to-end AI research copilot for users to carry out their research and writing fully. One feature that Afforai has compared to Paperguide is the Google search feature.
2. One AI response is considered as AI call. For example if you are ask literature review tool to find relevant papers on climate change, it will respond with a summary based on top relevant papers and gives a list of papers along with insights. It will be considered as one AI call. Even if u add columns to the response (to extract summary, methodology or any custom information), it will still be a single AI call. For AI search and chat with papers, when you further probe on the initial response, the subsequent response will be considered as a new AI call.
3. Currently we support PDF, docx, text file and URL uploads.
4. For OCR, for subscribed users, we have limits of 20 pages per document and per page image limit is 10 currently.
5. We are currently using GPT-4, GPT-4o, Claude 3.5.
Hope this clarifies. Feel free to let us know if you have any further queries
