I upvoted Paperguide when I saw it on Product Hunt a while back, and was thrilled to find it here on AppSumo. This is actually my first AppSumo review, and it's well-deserved. I'm a PhD student currently writing a dissertation, and Paperguide has been a game-changer for centralizing and consolidating all my academic research (articles, reviews, books).

Before Paperguide, I was honestly all over the place, switching between Consensus, Scite, SciSpace, Ellicit, Jenni, Scholarcy, Lumina, Enago Read, Aether Brain, ChatDOC, and many more. I think I've tried almost every AI tool for academic research, but Paperguide became one of my favorite as soon as I started using it. It combines all the tools I need in one, whether it's the writer, chat with PDF, reference manager, literature review, or data extraction—without me needing to juggle several different platforms.

I also love the clean, minimalistic layout. It keeps me focused. I've been using Paperguide as a reference manager since September, and I haven't felt the need to switch back to anything else (even after trying Papers). I save time by easily adding research articles into References, highlighting them on the go, while also being able to ask questions about the document via the "Ask AI" side panel. This feature is helpful when I want to get a quick sense of the content.

I haven't tried the Writer function extensively yet, but when I did test it out, I noticed a bug where my typed sentences disappeared when navigating away to Home and back to Writer. Hopefully, it's fixed. Still, the feature to create outlines and cite by simply typing "@" is convenient. The chat feature does a good job referencing the correct page, though I'd love to see it highlight specific sentences directly in the document for even more clarity.

Another big plus is the customer support. I reached out about converting my monthly subscription to a lifetime one, and they were incredibly responsive and helpful.

My wishlist for improvements: more integrations with tools like Google Drive, EndNote, Google Scholar, etc. Features like natural voice reader, higher OCR limits, MS Word plugins, automatic text highlighter when referencing would be nice. Overall, I hope Paperguide keeps evolving, because it's already made my workflow much more efficient, and I know other researchers could benefit just as much.
