Q: Hi team :) I have a few questions: 1) Is there a way to determine the length of the scenes or to merge scenes together?
Eg - I upload one of my videos and want some b-roll from Pictory but sometimes the “scene” length determined by Pictory is pretty long so the related clip goes beyond what I need as I am onto a new concept or topic.
2) Are there plans to speed up the rendering? A 7 minute video took me 30 minutes to render.
3) If we upload text is there a way we can highlight keywords that we want the AI to detect as the main text for a scene? Eg if I have a the words young families should start budgeting early my key word may be young family or budgeting hut pictory may select a clock. If I could highlight young family or budget that would be great.
4) Could you add a usage metric? Eg to determine how many of monthly videos I have left? If I have created 40 videos over 2 months how would I know how many videos I have left in month two?
Thank you team :)

May 14, 2024A: Hi,
1. We use the number of words of a scene to decide how to time the scenes. So, if you the scene length is too long, please split into shorter sentences.
2. Yes, you can highlight keywords using Ctrl-B or Cmd-B in step 1 to indicate your keywords.
3. Yes, the rendering takes long, but you can minimize the rendering window and do other things on Pictory. We will notify you when it is complete.
4. The usage metric dashboard is coming soon.
Hope that helps. Thanks for the great questions.

Thank you so much for the response.
I have one follow up question on scenes.
When I upload my own video it creates scenes and from what I can tell subscenes.
Eg scene 1, scene 1.a (I assume sub scene) scene 1.b, scene 1.c, scene 1.d.
If I want to have original video at 1 and 1.a but want to add a different image or video at 1.b and 1.c or and then revert back to my original video for 1.d, how do I do this?
When I try and add a new video it updates all the scene 1 slides?
Alternatively could I not have any subscene but have each slide as a scene?
Thank you for your response and thanks for a great tool :)

Hi @Iyle
Great question. The way Pictory works currently, the subscenes all have the same background visual. The workaround to have different visuals, is to insert new scenes (+ button) and copy paste the text from the sub-scene(s) to this new scene.
We have already planned a new UX for script/blog to video use case, where you can decide and finalize the script/scene text before landing on story-board.
I hope this helps.

Thank you for the response.
I will test it today.
If I create the new scene do I delete the sub scenes? Would my voice/audio disappear if I delete the subscene?
Excited about the decision about us reviewing the text before the storyboard appears but would that be the same flow for the instance where we upload the mp4 which gets transcribed?
Is there a way to merge scenes?
Thanks team :)

Hi Lyle,
The voiceover is attached at the scene level. So if you delete a sub-scene, the voiceover should still be there. Can you please try it out?
The text-review option is already present in the Mp4 upload use case.
