Q: I don't see Pin Generator listed in Pinterest partnerships: https://business.

So is it legal to use this software with Pinterest? Will my account be marked as Spam by Pinterest?

Jul 18, 2024A: Pin Generator is a Pinterest approved app.
There is a distinction between a Pinterest partner and a Pinterest approved app.
The first step is becoming a Pinterest approved app (which we have done). This requires any app to use the Pinterest API according to Pinterest's regulations and submit the app for Pinterest's verification.
On first submission Pinterest examines your apps functionality and if it meets their requirement, then they provide you with trial access to their API. This is like a probationary period where you can use the API to further develop functionality.
Once you have developed your functionality, you need to submit the app again for a second level of verification. At this stage Pinterest then checks the way in which your app integrates with the Pinterest API to ensure that it meets their requirements of safety and their community guidelines.
Only then, does Pinterest allow your app full access to the Pinterest API.
From here, all apps are subject to regular monitoring and if any app breaks Pinterest's terms of service then they will need to take corrective action or lose their API access.
We have been using the API for over 3 years now and have never had any issues with Pinterest.
We have an official Pinterest app ID too which you can cross reference if you like. It is App ID: 1471901
I regularly communicate with Pinterest developers regarding various things and I am hoping that we are able to get onto the Pinterest Partner program soon.
I'm not 100% sure what the next steps are to be a Pinterest Partner and to be listed on that page but I'll let you know once I do!
I noted that the Partner program is closed to all categories other than the Shopping category (which is what we have applied under). So it is interesting to note that they are not taking partnership applications for other categories.
For updates on this you can follow me on Twitter (https://twitter.com/OliverBoyers).
When we get approved I'll definitely be posting there.
I hope that clears things up a bit for you!
