As a full-time product designer who recently switched from Figma, I've been using Pixso for several months. My overall verdict is very positive: it's a powerful, capable tool that seems to be evolving rapidly. Although it's not yet as refined as the market leader, its progress suggests it could become the top choice very soon.

The Positives – Why I Switched and Stayed:

Excellent Value & Performance: The Tier 1 is genuinely generous and offers fantastic value for money, especially for small teams. Performance feels snappy, and the core design experience is fluid and intuitive.

Aggressive, Relevant Feature Development: This is Pixso's biggest strength. The development team is clearly listening to the community and shipping major updates at a rapid pace. The recent addition of variables and improved Figma file compatibility are game-changers, directly addressing the needs of professional users and making migration a realistic option.

Smooth Transition from Figma: For anyone worried about switching, the interface and shortcuts are familiar, significantly reducing the learning curve. Importing my old Figma files worked surprisingly well, which was a huge relief.

Areas for Improvement – Room to Grow:

Polish and Stability: As you rightly highlight, the breakneck pace of new features can sometimes come at the cost of thorough testing. I've encountered similar bugs, such as font variables occasionally breaking and needing reattachment, and certain limitations with gradient directions in colour styles. These aren't deal-breakers, but they interrupt the workflow.

Maturity of Ecosystem: While the core tool is strong, the surrounding ecosystem of plugins, community files, and third-party integrations isn't as rich as Figma's yet. This is expected for a newer platform, but is worth noting for teams that rely on a vast plugin library.

Pixso is an excellent choice for individual designers, startups, and cost-conscious teams in the UK who want a powerful, modern design tool without the high subscription cost. Its commitment to rapid improvement is evident.

My advice to the Pixso team would be to balance this fantastic feature velocity with a dedicated "polish and stability" sprint. If they can smooth out these rough edges while maintaining their current development pace, they have a very real chance of not just competing with but potentially surpassing the incumbents within the next year or two.

Honestly, I had so many high hopes for Pixso, it is OK to use but seems to be missing simple features like icon libraries built in, instead you have to download lots of different libraries, but simply it is just not a simple tool to use. Maybe just not for me unfortunately. The UI is good, but the UX is not, I am left to think too much.

I still have 30 days left to try, so if I find it easy over time, I will adjust this review accordingly, but in the first 30 days, not great.

The product, for the most part, works really well but the support team ignore emails and ignore their discord. Before you think about spending money on this product, check the bulk unanswered questions in the pixso and boardmix discord channels. The randomly answer things when they feel like it but it's not useful how and when they reply.

They do have a Discord Channel in which literally no-one of the Team seems to be present. Than there is a Telegram Channel called "Pixso Buddies" in which 99% of the People are russions and accordingly me as a non-russian speaker cannot understand anything there. The support e-mails are getting responded to once per week. So you can imagine how long it can take to resolve one issue if you have a little bit of back and forth, means a support request easily can take up to several months until resolution. For me as a business owner where quick resolution of blockers are required, this is not a software I would ever consider in a productional environment. This type of support is a support I would expect from an Open Source Project but not from a commercial project like this.

I guess I do not have to mention that 99.9% of the whole tool is a 1:1 Copy of Figma itself. However there are a lot features in which Figma is still way better like the auto-allignments for example or the overall integration into the ecosystem. When creating a UIUX Website Design, it is possible to connect your Figma via MCP to your IDE, so that your front-end designer can easily and very quickly create that Frontend for you. With Pixso it will take several weeks to do the same!

If you still want to migrate from Figma to this tool, I can ensure you that the import of Figma Files is buggy and the Import of other Files like Figjam, Slides and Buzz is not given AT ALL!

So long story short: You are on your own and nobody will come and help you in a quick way. You have to wait for several weeks unless you find it out yourself. Features are not matured and integration is not given at all. Migration is buggy or not given at all.

I'm having issues exporting the AI generated designs to Pixso workspace.

It generates only the first page and broken one at that.

Otherwise, would be great to have more templates related to inventories,ERP etc.
