PlayCode - Javascript Playground Reviews

I have ben using playcoee for about a year now primarly to do some quick coding of javascript code to do some debugging as it takes too much time to create a new project locally to do testing, likewise have been doing motion effects using css within this tool to save time opening vs code and creating new file, this tools has been a wonderful asset and hope it gets better close to codesandbox.io, just hoping there would be a way to use my local core to upload and use npm install to do some check. Overall I would definitely recommend this tool for developers and the ones who want to learn development!

Lacks many features.
UX is not the best when working with files. Sucks up too much time.
Upload max file size is 1000.... NOT ENOUGH when working with templates.
Responsiveness is poor or non-existent.
Help files need more meat and examples.
Courses are free online anyway, nothing original.
I'm happy to change my review. But what ticked me off was the max file upload limit. I'm better off using VSCode and running a site on a server instead of using this.

This is a hidden gem on Appsumo. The website and coding environment is well thought through. The learning section is accessible and takes me into the world of coding. Thanks!

I am not a developer but I can write simple codes. And here is my story.

1. I played with the HTML/JS codes I have imagined. Playcode shows what it looks like and allows me to trigger external webhooks/APIs.

2. I shared it with my class to discuss possibilities. Others could update, duplicate, tweak files or codes to expand the scope without me involved.

3. We felt the implementation looked presentable. We assigned a CNAME to the project space and it was immediately available as a demo site.

It worked nicely just like sharing/publishing a web site from my local drive. Besides choosing the UI options, I did not need to play with any settings to make it work. This has saved so much time for us to focus on the business than to manage the co-development environment.

Purchased this a while ago.
I'm willing to give this 10 tacos, why?

1)
The service does what it's supposed to do.
And it's very good deal compared to other similar services.

2)
The author is in it for the long run, he's not offering this and then abandoning the project. (See discord).

3)
The author is responsive (and willing to implement) when it comes to feedback or issues (See discord).

Go ahead and go for this deal, you won't be sorry. It's a solid investment!

I wasn't even in the market for this, but I'm sure glad it crossed my path because it's pretty great! As a user of CodePen, I was completely satisfied with what they have to offer, but I was shocked to learn that I actually like this better. It's fast, has a great UI and the dev seems to have thought of everything. If I am in need of something or want to customize to my liking, I just poke around and boom, there it is! This speeds up my testing/development and I appreciate that. The only thing I don't like is having to log in to my email to retrieve a code in order to log in to PlayCode. It's frustrating every time.

Having said that, if you're on the fence, you should at least check it out. If you don't like it, you know what to do.

This isn’t a full review, since I just played around with PlayCode a bit.
So far, I am really happy with it. Importing a package from NPM and using it with code completion works really well. This replaces Codepen for me.

I hope they manage to get some traction with PlayCode.

This is a wonderful program. It is so easy to use and really helpful for trying out code snippets. I doubt that I would have been able to use Robomotion without it. It saves so much time.
It is one of the best softeware developments that I have ever come across.
Very highly recommended.

Bought this a while ago.
Tool is running pretty smooth and i use it on a daily base to try out smaller things before implementing it in my own projects.
Even though i'm a little sad with the current limitations (e.g. Angular is not supported yet), i am very positive about seeing these fixed in upcoming releases.
Ian is very responsive and requests and wishes are being heard and delievered, so the product gains value nearly on a day to day basis.
Also the community is a great bunch of people to be part of.
If you are thinking about getting it: you cannot make anything wrong here.

It is still behind compared to well-funded projects such as CodePen, but I'm betting my money on this one. I'm looking forward to the development of this project.

If you plan on doing anything online, you are going to need PlayCode. Sure, there is notepad and other free things...but $99 for a LTD, you can't go wrong.

Anytime I do a purchase on Appsumo, I read the reviews here and on the partners site. I conduct my due diligence and research any tool before purchasing, and it looked like it would be a great tool to have and use. I like tools that can speed up my work flow.

I've been online for a looong time -- since 1993-1994...I don't know everything, and we are all trying to keep up with the onslaught of new things. It is important to have a solid time-saving toolset to work with!

I always tell people, "You can dig a ditch with a pick and shovel, but I would rather use a tool like a backhoe digger to do the heavy lifting and speed up the work". I can then move on to other things.

BONUS NOTE: I have also found that I spend less time looking/searching for snips of code or work-arounds to a problem I might encounter while writing code or troubleshooting. Most of all - GONE are the days of installing and updating NPM packages!

I admittedly am no javascript pro yet, but for someone who is learning, this tool has to be one of the best. It comes with starter templates, snippets, small guides and even 'cheat sheets'. It's just so easy to spin up ideas.

A good example:
Earlier in my javascript journey, I wanted to try out Svelte. But I couldn't get it to work and (unluckily) the Svelte Discord was not really helpful, so I gave up. Playcode has a Svelte template so it got me going in no time. So easy and frictionless.

How I use PlayCode:
- In class. I just started a 2 year web development education. It's much easier for me to do small tasks and assignments in PlayCode than VScode (they feel very similar).

- Saving code snippets

- For client work. I used to do WordPress websites as a freelancer. Now I do more custom coded sites, and with PlayCode I can quickly make demos for my clients and showcase ideas - with custom domains, for extra credibility and streamlining. No deploying to github and pushing to Netlify first.

I understand the founder has been working on this for a long, long time so I am also confident in its longevity and the price point is 110% fair. Thank you Ian!

For junior and senior devs alike, this is a fantastic tool! Great for learning, and great for testing.

Codepen.io is nice, of course, but I do feel the value PlayCode.io brings, makes it worth investing in for the LTD. You get courses within PlayCode, can save and categorize your work in a nice way, they have an active Discord you can ask questions in, and more. I also enjoy the UI :)

Works beautifully.

Life is crazy hectic, and pretty rare that I leave a review, even when I get the standard App Sumo follow up email from the creator asking for reviews for incentives, etc.

Yet here I am leaving a review, unprompted, no incentive other than my sheer joy with this software.

Even with the minor glitches of the mac desktop version, and the same for some of the coding tutorials, it's still, one of the best deals on appsumo.

It's clear that this isn't just a funnel for revenue but built by someone who really truly gets the needs of developing and the care that was put into the learning paths is really something.

This and Ask Jarvis are the two golden tacos of 22 so far. Thanks for making something that really does what I need it to.

This is one of the fastest code playground that I've tried. The user interface is clean and nice. I only wish it add more support for framework like SolidJS out of the box, then it would be perfect.

Really useful. Saves a ton of time not dealing with packages.

I use this for learning and testing various web technologies. Gone is the time spent setting everything up, I also get an instant live preview of my work coupled with a useful console. I work with tailwindcss, alpinejs, bootstrap and I can easily explore other technologies. The author is responsive and maintains the application. I requested some frameworks, these were subsequently added. I am glad to have this tool in my arsenal as it changes the way I now work on the web.

An attractive and useful code editor escpecially the subdomain feature is awesome. I would recommend people to try Playcode.

I am looking forward to see if Playcode can add a download button in the future to let user downloads the whole project as a zip.
