A: PLG OS isn’t a backend in the same sense as Supabase, Firebase, or your own database. Instead, it’s more like a cloud-based growth layer that sits on top of your app.

Here’s what that means:
- Your backend (whether PHP, Supabase, Firebase, or something else) is still responsible for your core data, and business logic.
- PLG OS plugs in via a JavaScript snippet or SDK and adds pre-built components for onboarding, chat, feedback, surveys, referrals, gamification, etc.
- It can track user interactions, personalize experiences, and trigger workflows, but it doesn’t replace your backend database or server.

Think of it as the “front-facing growth engine” — while your backend is the foundation, PLG OS makes sure users activate, engage, and stick around.

So in short: it’s not a backend, it’s a cloud-hosted platform of growth and engagement tools that work alongside your backend.
