After working on both feature-driven and outcome-driven teams, I quickly came to understand that outcome-driven teams results continuously outstrip the traditional top-down approach of feature-driven teams.

Outcome driven teams are not only much more effective at achieving results but also more enjoyable and rewarding to work on, the empowerment and alignment that goes hand in hand with outcome-driven roadmaps have led me to believe this is the future for modern product development. There are so many additional benefits to this approach as well:

1. It's easy to map an idea back to how it fits in the product strategy, this means everyone understands and is aligned on why we are focusing on an idea now. 2. It's easy to see the dependencies and other ideas that need to happen first to execute on the opportunity. 3. It's easy to see the trade-offs between solutions and opportunities and why we might be focusing on one area over another. 4. It's a more accurate representation of how agile products are developed.

Inspired we looked for tools to do this kind of road mapping and couldn't find any. Being PM's we decided to build one for ourselves, and so Poda was born.
