Speed and errors
Poptics is a handy popup tool with slick ux and functionality, but it significantly slowed down my site’s key speed metrics in repeated GTmetrix tests. With Poptics enabled, First Contentful Paint, Largest Contentful Paint, and Time to Interactive were all 1–1.8 seconds slower compared to when it was disabled. Disabling Poptics consistently made my site faster. I recommend async or deferred loading to minimize the impact. The tool doesn't have any performance settings and you will need to do this yourself or use 3d party.
I also ran into a serious issue where conversions were recorded but actual form submission data was lost so leads went missing. Support initially blamed user error and gave incorrect screenshots, which forced me to troubleshoot myself. The real problem was their default template I selected had a capitalised Email field, that for some reason broke backend submission recording. Not sure if that’s fixed yet. Useful tool, but you need to watch for speed drops and double-check lead tracking. I may revisit it in the future if it comes back to appsumo with more tweaks and speed and performance features.
