0. Over the years, we've done some customizing with the Child theme. We're - having trouble upgrading the site to the latest version of Wordpress and PHP and to the latest SmartMag theme version 9.2.
Can I rebuild my site using PostX that will work with our current database and just abandon the SmartMag theme?
I have some customizations that would need to be redone:
- an issue box and custom functions
- latest articles
- custom events
- dashboard post and events list with the custom fields
- we use the Events Manager plugin for events and calendar

PostX is a plugin. So, you can use it with any WordPress theme. Yeah, PostX will work for your current database. You can try PostX, I hope it will solve all your problems.
Hi. I'm willing to give it a try. Technically, we are unable to update our site to PHP 8 or Wordpress 6 because this conflicts with our old smartmag theme.
So would we need to switch to another theme first (like Twenty Twenty-One) and then install PostX to recreate the home page and old posts, and use that as a template for new posts, and be able to update to the latest PHP and Wordpress versions?
