It is a nice media management tool and also great for video and audio hosting.

Before this Appsumo deal I first came across this tool when I was looking for an affordable video hosting solution. I was pleasantly surprised that it can do a lot more.

First video hosting. The problem with video hosting is really expensive. Just check out the pricing for Vimeo and Wistia. So alternatives are nice to look at.

I first looked at general storage services like Dropbox. The problem with Dropbox and other general storage services is that it has bandwith limits and that it is not really suited for video streaming.

One hour of 1080p video is 1.5GB. So if that video is replayed 60 times a day you need 90GB daily or 270GB monthly bandwith. But there is more than bandwith. It is also the streaming speed. If you test Dropbox for example with a video file you will see that the video is slow to start and that it will stutter during video play.

Publit.io has a cdn and streams video really nice without stuttering. Publit.io is really affordable. You can use it standalone but if you need download protection or some nice ad functionality or buttons etc I would suggest to use it in combination with Vooplayer.

As media management tool it offers some nice transformation tools. I like it that I can upload all the images I get send from a client. I use the url transformation to download it with the right width to use on the website. It is also nice if I do some guest blogging. Normally I would send the html and the image files. Now I only send the html (the images I uploaded to publit.io). Nice if you use Textmetrics (Webtextool).

I also use the audio transformation. So I can upload only the original wav file and just by change the file extension in the url I can publish this url as an mp3 or ogg file.

I warmly recommend this tool. Ofcourse there are some things to be worked upon but it seems really stabile allready.

My wishes are:
1. Share a folder so clients can upload their images to that folder
2. Intelligent automatic Smart cropping. So for example if you have an image of a person and want to have a nice square portrait of that person. Or if you have a webshop and you want some nice thumbnails of your products made automatically.
3. Sorting in management media dashboard
4. Functionality to transform all the files in the folder. For example a way to transform all the image files in a folder into width 600 px.
