What are past projects, failures, or successes you’ve had in your career?
Over the course of my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work on some truly transformative projects that have shaped my journey as an entrepreneur.
1. FullThrottle Labs
Before PyjamaHR, I founded and led FullThrottle Labs, a successful software consultancy. We specialized in building bespoke software solutions for startups and enterprises alike. Our success in this space was largely driven by our ability to rapidly hire top talent, which later inspired the creation of PyjamaHR. FullThrottle Labs allowed me to deeply understand the challenges businesses face when scaling, especially in hiring, and laid the groundwork for my next venture.
2. Plate IQ
As a Senior Technical Consultant at Plate IQ, I played a crucial role in streamlining their invoice processing software. This experience helped me develop a keen sense of product development and management, which has been invaluable in my entrepreneurial journey.
3. PyjamaHR
Of course, my proudest achievement to date is founding PyjamaHR. We’ve grown from an idea sparked by frustration with existing ATS tools to a platform now used by over 6,000 companies and 7.5 million candidates globally. This journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been incredibly rewarding to see how PyjamaHR is making a tangible difference in how companies hire talent.
Failures and Lessons Learned
-----------------------------------------
Every entrepreneur faces challenges, and I’m no different. I believe failures are the stepping stones to success, and each setback has taught me valuable lessons.
1. The Early Days of FullThrottle Labs
When we first started FullThrottle Labs, we faced many challenges, from scaling operations to managing client expectations. There were times when we took on more projects than we could handle, leading to missed deadlines and strained client relationships. However, these experiences taught me the importance of focus, prioritization, and the power of saying 'no' when necessary.
2. Hiring Mistakes
In the early stages of my career, I made several hiring mistakes, often rushing to fill positions without thoroughly vetting candidates. This led to mismatches in company culture and work ethic, resulting in high turnover and lost productivity. These experiences drove home the importance of a robust hiring process—one of the key motivators behind building PyjamaHR.
3. Product Launch Hurdles
Launching PyjamaHR wasn’t without its hiccups. During our beta phase, we encountered significant challenges, including technical issues and user onboarding hurdles. These obstacles were frustrating, but they pushed us to improve our product continuously, leading to the robust platform we have today.
Looking Ahead

While I’ve had my share of successes and failures, each experience has made me a better leader and entrepreneur. I’m committed to applying these lessons to continuously improve PyjamaHR and help other businesses succeed in their hiring efforts.

What’s the origin of the idea for your product?
The idea for PyjamaHR was born out of sheer frustration with the existing hiring tools on the market. Back in 2019, my co-founders and I were running a successful software consultancy in India, and one of the keys to our success was our ability to hire top talent quickly. However, we found that the Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) available at the time were clunky, outdated, and incredibly expensive.
We were spending too much time on manual processes, navigating through poor user interfaces, and dealing with complex sales processes that made it difficult to scale our hiring efforts. The final straw was realizing that none of the tools on the market offered the AI-powered capabilities we needed to make our hiring process more efficient.
That’s when we decided to take matters into our own hands. We set out to build an ATS that was fast, affordable, easy to use, and powered by AI to automate and streamline the hiring process. PyjamaHR was the result of this journey—a tool that makes hiring so simple, that you can do it in your pyjamas!
Why are you passionate about your product?
--------------------------------------------------------------
I’m passionate about PyjamaHR because it addresses a critical need that so many businesses, especially startups and SMEs, face when it comes to hiring. I’ve been on the other side, struggling with inefficient tools and processes, and I know firsthand how challenging it can be to find and hire the right talent quickly.
Building PyjamaHR has been more than just creating a product—it’s been about solving a problem that I’m deeply familiar with. I’m driven by the impact we’re making in the hiring space, helping companies of all sizes source, evaluate, and hire the best candidates faster and more affordably.
What excites me the most is the feedback we receive from our users who tell us how PyjamaHR has transformed their hiring processes, allowing them to focus more on growing their business rather than being bogged down by administrative tasks. Knowing that we’re helping companies build great teams and succeed fuels my passion and commitment to continuously improve and innovate our product.
What problem is your product solving and how?
PyjamaHR is designed to solve one of the most pressing challenges businesses face today: the inefficiencies and complexities of the hiring process. Traditional Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) are often outdated, difficult to use, and require extensive manual effort, making it challenging for companies to source, evaluate, and hire top talent quickly and effectively.
Here’s how PyjamaHR solves these problems:
Streamlining Candidate Sourcing:
---------------------------------------------
Finding the right candidates can be a time-consuming process, especially when dealing with multiple job boards and platforms. PyjamaHR integrates seamlessly with major job boards like LinkedIn ApplyConnect, Monster, ZipRecruiter, and Dice, allowing companies to post jobs and receive candidate applications in one centralized platform. Our advanced sourcing features, including job post boosting, ensure that companies can reach a wider pool of relevant candidates quickly.
Automating Candidate Evaluation:
-----------------------------------------------
When you have hundreds or even thousands of applicants, evaluating each one manually is not only tedious but also prone to bias and errors. PyjamaHR leverages AI-powered tools to automate the initial stages of candidate evaluation. Our AI Interview feature can conduct interviews at scale, focusing on predefined vetting criteria, and provide detailed candidate summaries. This saves time and ensures that only the most qualified candidates move forward in the hiring process.
Enhancing Hiring Efficiency:
-------------------------------------
The traditional hiring process is often slow, involving multiple steps that can delay decision-making. PyjamaHR simplifies this with features like 1-click interview scheduling, AI resume matching, and real-time feedback management. These tools help companies move quickly from sourcing to hiring, reducing the time-to-hire and ensuring that they don’t miss out on top talent.
Cost-Effective Hiring:
----------------------------
Many ATS platforms on the market are prohibitively expensive, making them inaccessible for startups and small businesses. PyjamaHR offers a cost-effective solution with plans starting at just $15/user/month. Our pricing model is designed to be affordable without compromising on the quality of features, making it easier for companies of all sizes to access powerful hiring tools.
User-Friendly Experience:
-----------------------------------
We believe that hiring should be easy, not cumbersome. PyjamaHR is built with a modern, intuitive user interface that requires minimal training. Our platform is fully self-serve, allowing companies to get up and running quickly, and we provide top-notch customer support with an average response time of just 8.5 minutes.
