You can, but the problem is that after 120 days you have to upload a new one and then edit the dynamic QR code to point to it. Also, the app's stats don't track the person who opens the QR code. Maybe something that gives you information (IP, phone type, etc.) about who opened the QR code it would be valuable for your case, and we can't offer that
Thank you!

1) All sent files have an expiration date. However, you can create dynamic Qrcodes that do not expire. Here you can set one or more links and change them at any time. 2) You can link to anything you want. 3) you can use for this, but we are security and privacy focused. Our Qrcodes are larger because they contain the encryption key. We do not know your links for example.
Thank you. As an example for #3, as a realtor, I have lead magnets that are freebies with topics like "how to stage your home"; home-buying tips; downsizing; vacation home-buying. I would like to ask the lead for their first name and email address in order to access the "free guide". I can put the free guide on my website. flodesk or leave the guide in QRclip.
I hope this gives more details.
Q: Whats the difference?
I recently made a purchase and while I appreciate the sleek, simple, and aesthetically pleasing user interface, I'm struggling to see the need for this product given the availability of cloud storage. Could you clarify the key differences between this and a cloud storage solution? With cloud storage, I can store more, share files easily without the need for links, generate short links, create QR codes, set passwords, and allow others to download without requiring them to create an account. What advantages does this product offer that would justify its use?
A: I understand your concerns about the necessity of QRClip.io in light of traditional cloud storage solutions. Although both platforms facilitate file storage and sharing, QRClip.io offers distinct advantages tailored to secure, efficient and user-centric file transfer:
1. Increased security and privacy: - Zero-knowledge encryption: QRClip.io works with a zero-knowledge architecture that ensures that only you and your intended recipients can access the files you share. Even the service itself cannot decrypt your data. - End-to-end encryption: With advanced XChaCha20-Poly1305 encryption, QRClip.io guarantees that your data remains confidential during the entire transfer process.
2. User-controlled data management: - Self-destructing links and QR codes: You can set how long your shared data remains accessible and how often it can be accessed to ensure your files are not available indefinitely. - User-controlled deletion: QRClip.io allows you to delete shared files at your own discretion and even gives recipients the option to delete the data after access, providing an additional layer of control.
3. Seamless and flexible sharing: - QR code integration: QRClip.io enables quick file transfers through QR codes, allowing recipients to scan files and access them instantly without the need for links or accounts. - Multi-recipient feature: A single QR code can receive files from multiple senders simultaneously, simplifying the collection of data from different sources without the clutter of multiple emails or messages.
4. Anonymity and data protection: - Anonymous data exchange: QRClip.io enables the transfer of files without requesting personal data, allowing anonymous sharing when needed.
5. Universal compatibility: - Cross-platform access: QRClip.io is designed to work seamlessly across multiple devices including smartphones, computers, tablets and servers(command line), making it a versatile solution for all your file sharing needs.
While traditional cloud storage services offer basic file sharing and storage features, QRClip.io provides a specialized platform that focuses on secure, controlled and efficient file transfers. Its unique features such as end-to-end encryption, user-controlled data management, QR code integration and anonymous sharing offer benefits that can be particularly valuable if you handle sensitive data or need a streamlined, secure sharing method.
Thanks for your question.

Thank you for your question! We’re currently in the process of simplifying how credits work and reducing prices. However, under the current pricing structure(Appsumo Deal): Storage Cost per GB for 15 days: $0.025 Download Cost per GB: $0.025
Here’s how the costs break down for your example: Download Costs: A 130MB file = 0.130GB Downloaded by 5 people = 0.130GB × 5 = 0.615GB Total Download Cost = 0.615GB × $0.025 = $0.015375
Storage Costs: 0.130GB stored for 15 days = 0.130GB × $0.025 = $0.00325
Total Cost: $0.015375 + $0.00325 = $0.018625
If you have any further questions or need additional clarification, feel free to reach out!

A: Thanks for sharing your idea! We appreciate creative suggestions, but lifetime plans don’t align with our core values of fairness and transparency. Our goal is to ensure that users only pay for what they actually use, rather than relying on those who don’t fully utilize their resources to subsidize heavier users. This pay-as-you-go approach allows us to keep pricing honest, straightforward, and genuinely fair for everyone.
While we’re continually working to refine and simplify our pricing structure, offering a lifetime deal would mean moving away from the balance and equity we’ve set out to maintain. We hope you understand our perspective.

What about limited lifetime plans? Ex. Max file size 10Gb, can only store 1day and file gets deleted after, and only 5 items can be stored at a time. Something like this may be possible in the future?

Hello, No, scanning the QR code with any scanning app opens the link in the browser, and you can download the files. If you have the app installed, it will open with the app. It depends: you can give the person who opens the link permission to delete it, or, for example, set a limit so it can only be opened once; that way, it will be deleted a afterward. Thanks

Is there also an application for iPhone, or can you use the website from your phone? Second question: do you only pay to create the QR code, or do you also pay when the other person downloads the file? So, do you pay twice? This point is not clear to me.Thank you!
A: Hello, There is an app for the iPhone, but if the user does not have an app installed, he uses the website without any problems. The functionality is exactly the same, the big difference is that the operating system can share with the installed app. The credits are consumed first when sending and then when downloading. The idea is that we only charge when the user actually uses the resources, so we can lower the price to make it fair for everyone.

Because of the encryption it is very difficult to integrate it into a 3rd party api. Since the encryption has to be processed on the client, there is no easy way to achieve this. What exactly do you need to do?

Since I am a bit paranoid when it comes to security, one of my main measures is that all my passwords are long, contain special characters, and are different for all my website accounts. The initial setup of a new device that uses these hard to type passwords is not pretty to say the least. I have always hated it and wanted a way to send something securely to a device that has no way to receive data, like an email or messaging app already set up. That was the spark that got me thinking about QRClip. Yes, I know I could create a QR code with the password, but often I have to do that on computers without a camera. I also needed a way to scan a QR code to send text and files with just two or three clicks, without any login required.
With QRClip, you can send data from your phone to any device that is right in front of you, whether it has a camera or not. Everything is encrypted with AES256, I can not decrypt your data because I never get the key. And if you use the QR code for the transfer, it is completely anonymous between the parties involved. This way you can also share something with someone without exchanging emails or phone numbers.
There are already many web applications that can do some of QRClip's functions, but none can do everything QRClip can. It encrypts your data so that only you can decrypt it, sends and receives data with QR code scanning, and self-destructs after the user-defined time and download limit. Perfect for sending self-destructing data in emails.
I developed it to make my life easier and more secure, but I hope it will be useful for others as well.
If you have any questions or suggestions, just email me at antero@qrclip.io.
A: Note: Some users refund on the grounds that support takes a long time to respond. The problem is that I never received an email. I don't know if they tried and there's a problem or if it's just a random reason. In case of a refund, it would be very helpful if you could send me an email with the reason. Since I can't reach QRClip users via email, that's the only way to get feedback, especially negative feedback.

Q: If you added HIPAA compliance to your offering you would open up a whole new world of use cases.
I think you would already satisfy most of the requirements, probably would just need to add the signed agreement between you and the healthcare organization.
A: Hello, Sorry I took my time replying, but since this wasn't a question, I had to ask appsumo to approve it since it was automatically rejected. Now on the topic of HIPAA, although we are technically compliant, there is an issue that we can't quite resolve. Since we don't store our users' emails, we can't notify them via email in the event of a data breach. Even though all our data is encrypted on the user side with keys we never get, we can't fulfill this part. Thanks,

Q: I want to know If I have a software that can create a (PWA) mobile app that outputs to a downloadable URL ...
that will install the app to cell phone, can I use your QR-code software to create a qr code and place that URL inside of it so that when the QR-code is scanned it would allow the person to access the downloadable QR code to the install it to the persons phone as the URL was intended to do without the qr code? In other words I just want someone to be able to scan your qr code and download the app to their phones desktop
A: Hello, QRclips have a maximum validity of 120 days, there you can upload files and people can download them. We also have a dynamic QR code option where you can generate dynamic QR codes. There you can change the link without changing the QR code itself, so you can print, for example, as they don't change and can basically be edited in the backend. As far as I know, though, you want a way to upload a file and get a QR code that lasts forever. QRClip was designed for short term storage, not long term.

I'm interested in your QR code technology for a secure transfere of Aff links that are getting hijacked by larger competition, aiming to link product QR directly to item (affiliate links) within our app then to the offer checkout for a seamless and secure user experience. We need a system where QR scans from ads lead to specific app offerings without external security risks, ensuring a straightforward transition and enabling us to track engagement metrics effectively for our ad partners. Could you provide insights on integrating your solutions to support this, ensuring security and efficiency in data transfer? Looking forward to potential growth with secure transactions.
Well, the QRClip link metrics are minimal to say the least: we only track how many times a link has been opened. We don't collect any information from the people who open the link, so they may not be suitable for your use case. Our links are secure, at least from us, since we don't know them. But anyone who has access to the QR code can open them, but you can add a password. Then the person needs the QR code and the password to be able to open it. You can email me at antero@qrclip.io if you want to give me more detailed explanations to see if I can help you with your problem.

It took me a minute to wrap my head around it. I had to binge on your YouTube channel to understand how this works. I mean I get the basics of encrypted file sharing but QRClip is on another level. It's deceiving when you login too because your UI is so simple (which I love btw, ty). As a web designer who shares and receives login, API keys and other sensitive info on a regular basis, this is going to be very useful.
I would love to see you write about some more use cases on your blog. I saw a couple on there but the level of sophistication in QRClip opens up a world of possibilities I don't think most people wouldn't even think of. Like simply transferring files from my phone to computer. I laughed when you mentioned that because it hadn't even crossed my mind lol
I absolutely love how many customization options you provide too. From permissions, to styling to portals to branding. Thank you!
I would really love to see an unlimited timeframe option on the dynamic QR codes so I could use these for my other business too. I understand they need to be renewed annually so as long as the person renews it, then keeping it active would be a nice feature! My specific use case being that I would like to include QR codes on my products so people can easily scan it to get to the website.
Thank you for your kind words; they are greatly appreciated. Regarding the dynamic QR codes, rest assured, they do not expire. Renewal is only necessary if you wish to edit them, such as changing the URL or other settings. A QR code created now will continue to work indefinitely without renewal.
I'm inspired by your suggestion for more use cases on our blog. It’s a great reminder of the untapped potential of QRClip, and I'm eager to explore and share more about how it can fit into various workflows and applications.
Thanks again for your feedback and support!

Oh! I didn't realize that about the dynamic QR codes. Awesome! I thought I saw a 120 day max expiration on those somewhere but it must have been one of the others.
Ya, I would definitely love to read them if you do. We're gonna have to retrain ourselves on the way we think about things so I think use cases could go a long way in helping make that happen.
120 days apply to the QRClips with files and text. We have a dynamic QR code feature that allows you to add links that open when scanned. This is the feature that never expires. https://www.qrclip.io/dynamic-qr-codes
Thanks,
Q: I have read in your privacy policy that you use servers from hetzner.
Is the data really stored in Germany (which would be cool)?
A: Hello, our main database is located in the USA. Then the file storage is decentralized by default, but you can choose Frankfurt, for example. Keep in mind that we only know the size of your data as it is end-to-end encrypted, nothing else. Even the file name is encrypted with a key that we don't have and have never received. This is not like other solutions where someone who gains access to the server would be able to see your files. We could expose our user files and even our database, which would be of no use to anyone, because even your email is hashed.

Dec 13, 2024A: Hello,
Thank you for your question! We’re currently in the process of simplifying how credits work and reducing prices. However, under the current pricing structure(Appsumo Deal):
Storage Cost per GB for 15 days: $0.025
Download Cost per GB: $0.025
Here’s how the costs break down for your example:
Download Costs:
A 130MB file = 0.130GB
Downloaded by 5 people = 0.130GB × 5 = 0.615GB
Total Download Cost = 0.615GB × $0.025 = $0.015375
Storage Costs:
0.130GB stored for 15 days = 0.130GB × $0.025 = $0.00325
Total Cost: $0.015375 + $0.00325 = $0.018625

It encrypts your data so that only you can decrypt it, sends and receives data with QR code scanning, and self-destructs after the user-defined time and download limit. Perfect for sending self-destructing data in emails.
I developed it to make my life easier and more secure, but I hope it will be useful for others as well.
If you have any questions or suggestions, just email me at antero@qrclip.io.

May 21, 2024A: Note: Some users refund on the grounds that support takes a long time to respond.

May 21, 2024A: Hello,
Sorry I took my time replying, but since this wasn't a question, I had to ask appsumo to approve it since it was automatically rejected.

May 14, 2024A: Hello,
QRclips have a maximum validity of 120 days, there you can upload files and people can download them.
Thank you

Ok. Thank you.
Q: Hello QR Clip.
io Team,
I'm interested in your QR code technology for a secure transfere of Aff links that are getting hijacked by larger competition, aiming to link product QR directly to item (affiliate links) within our app then to the offer checkout for a seamless and secure user experience.

May 15, 2024A: Hello,
Well, the QRClip link metrics are minimal to say the least: we only track how many times a link has been opened.
Thank you very much!

Q: This is so cool!

May 15, 2024A: Hello,
Thank you for your kind words; they are greatly appreciated.
Best, Antero

Hello,
120 days apply to the QRClips with files and text. We have a dynamic QR code feature that allows you to add links that open when scanned. This is the feature that never expires.

Q: I have read in your privacy policy that you use servers from hetzner.
Is the data really stored in Germany (which would be cool)?
QRClip
May 15, 2024A: Hello, our main database is located in the USA.
