Q: Hello Dear Sumolings, i started purchasing software extensively in APPSUMO past year thinking I have found a goldmine.
One of my purchases was rake.ai (an omnichannel communication platform). I purchased the highest tier around 7 months ago. I had not even started using this software and 3 weeks ago I found that rake.ai website was down. No communication, nothing. I sent several emails to hello@rake.ai , their support email. Again no response for several days. Then i found the creator in Linkedin and contacted him. No response. Later i posted a public question via comment in one of his posts. My comment was simple and I just politely asked "if rake.ai is down and when is it expected to be up and running". Immediately i received a private reply saying Rake.ai has permanently been shut down and the creator Mike Hendrix has left the company (He still continues to show that he is associated with Rake.ai in his profile pic in twitter). He also commanded me to remove my public comment saying that the post where i commented was not the the right post to ask such questions. Here goes down the drain my 99 + 99 USD agency plan. Are such experiences common in Appsumo? There are some software that I wish to buy. But due to this bad experience, I have decided not to buy any new software in Appsumo for some time. I have realised that many more software might not be shutdown by founder outright. But we will never know if the development has stopped and there is no maintenance. What is your suggestion / advice in such situation sumo-lings?

I got Tier 5. And I share your pain. Appsumo is a reputable company and I hope they do the right thing.
Rake has been disappointing. Full of bugs and support was non-existent. I waited and waited for it to come good and finally when it's time to deliver, they decided to throw in the towel and close it down.
