Wanted to love it, but misses the mark 😞!
I had high hopes, but…
I've been using similar apps for years, from the early Franz, next Ferdi and finally the paid road with Wavebox. Rambox approach is interesting, but so far, I've seen three issues.
The first is the lack of extension support, the available library is minimal, and their "not all Chrome extensions are compatible with our underlying technologies" and "feel free to submit an extension request" will be impossible to keep up and satisfy all users. Sadly, if they don't change this policy + underlying technologies, it could become their downfall and demise.
Second, it's just too restrictive on multiple tabs for the same app. You can configure how new tabs work; however, I've seen issues in how cookies, JS and other technologies are being blocked. For instance, in cPanel/WHM, account management works in new tabs, and Rambox blocks the information, so you receive an error from cPanel.
And third, tab icons are just too big and take up too much space. This is subjective view, and although there is a "Density" option to reduce the size of tabs/icons, I think they could be a little bit smaller, just as Vivaldi is able to do.
On the plus side, I REALLY like the way you can configure apps side to side on the same window (this is the reason I'm not asking for a refund for the time being) and synchronization among different computers works quite well.
I hope they take seriously these comments, as so far it looks like a deal breaker for me.
