Q: Can you help me understand the use for this tool, please?

I'm struggling a little as it sounds like the changes are not done to the website itself so if Reboo disappeared, then my clients' websites would revert back to their original state, right?

I'd find this tricky to sell - let's say I charge a client $1,000 to make their website mobile responsive by using Reboo. Then in 2 years time Reboo stops operating for whatever reason or you change direction, then my client's site would revert back to what it looked like originally and they would get pissed at me. Of course, I'd have to return the money which is long gone, etc.

Am I getting this right or am I missing something?

A: Hi Greg,
the answer to your first question is yes, if you remove the Reboo code from your website it's restored to the original state, Reboo doesn't make any change to the website files.
In case you want to have a backup of those files you can download them and host them elsewhere. They'll keep working.

To me, that makes this too risky. If we invest too heavily in reboo and it goes away, we'd lose everything. So if we roll this out to dozens of sites, you'd be SOL.

If a theme developer, for example, goes out of business, it's not as bad. The site doesn't change, you just lose updates and support.

I'd suggest thinking that piece through, as it's likely going to keep the majority of us on the fence.

I perfectly understand the point. We've found hosting files directly as the best way to make things simple without asking users to download/upload files. We decided for an automated app to make you save a lot of time in making changes. But I understand your concerns. Anyway all files generated by Reboo are public and can be backed up and hosted elsewhere.
What about a feature that allows you to decide where the Reboo files have to be uploaded? For example via FTP or on a S3 bucket? Could it be a good solution?

@thomas Would that make the changes permanent?

Hey Thomas files to be uploaded to Amazon S3 bucket would be a nice feature. Please add it. thanks

Added to our feature requests list :) Thanks!

You could also download/backup the 'Reboo embed files' and upload it to the hosting environment of the website when (unfortunately) Reboo stops operating.

The two 'Reboo embed files' are:
1. CSS stylesheet
2. Javascript

If the Javascripts keeps working (safely) during time is ofcourse a good question. But at least it buys you some time more.
