Great for Design Challenged People
I was not planning on spending any money, damn you AppSumo for having great deals.
I have to make stuff for an event I help run, and also for my blog etc, and while I can manage making one image, I sometimes struggle making the same image different sizes for different platforms, this is where Relay That looked like it would help a lot.
And it does, once you pick a design, tweak it to however you want, you have all the other sizes there for you to download if you need. I can see I will be using it a lot in the future and I'm already liking it better than Stencil.
Couple of things I'd like to see in the future would be:
- Snap to grid when moving text around, and showing you when it's centered or aligned with another element.
- I'd like the sizes to have an icon or name of the platform they would be good for next to them, especially if more sizes are added, I find that handy in other products.
A great product for people that find designing things a challenge, and want to do things for themselves. Really glad I bought this deal.
RelayThat
May 9, 2024Hey Websam!
Wonderful review and thanks for the 5... count 'em... 5 tacos!
I'm glad you're going to get so much use out of RelayThat and I wanted to make sure I answered your additional suggestions.
1. We're currently looking into some sort of guide overlay but to be honest, the end goal of RelayThat is that you should never have to make any changes to the design. You should just be able to see what you want and download it. :) That said, I100% understand why a grid would help. Maybe even an invisible grid with variable tolerance could be something. I'll add this to our roadmap and think on it!
2. For the icons... we actually started this way but what happened is all of the platforms started opening up the sizes that were near and dear to their brand. Instagram broke out of the square, Pinterest allowed other sizes, and even LinkedIn started adding others sizes...
We DO still have the icons on the browser just as you suggested but as far as adding it next to every design... we would need to think on that because it could be a TON of icons! :)
Thanks again and talk soon!
