Remo to enhance your community platform
I have to admit I was not familiar with the Remo platform until this deal landed on AppSumo, so it was a very pleasant surprise and being an AirMeet and GoBrunch customer, I was intrigued to learn more about their platform offering. After an intro demo session and the recent extended demo/Q&A session, I'm happy to be a Tier 3 Remo customer.
While I have used AirMeet in the past for my community, the amount of features, etc. became a bit overwhelming and from the community member perspective, we did encounter some issues with everyone grasping how to make the most of that platform. I'm not meaning to sound negative on AirMeet or GoBrunch, so let me say I see this as a promising community platform upgrade with a focus on combining presentation with networking.
Overall, the Remo platform offers the sweet spot I'm looking for. The ability to drive a weekly community meetup while also hosting larger sessions, which I do in preparation of our annual in-person conference. So the goal is to use remo now on a recurring weekly basis within my community as well as be ready for the larger event (which was last hosted using AirMeet).
I have a learning curve ahead of me as I jump into my first conference, but I feel I have been educated enough now that I will be able to host with confidence while learning along the way. The staff has been very responsive, and I appreciate them taking the initiative to hold demo and Q&A sessions for us.
There are some features I hope to see (some of which are available on competing platforms), so I do hope that some of these enhancements will make it onto the platform in the next 6-12 months. As others have stated, I hope to see an option for a permanent URL and "always open" space for a small meeting. This does require a different floor plan approach, which may result in a custom build being required, unfortunately. This is something that would not be an issue with GoBrunch for example, but I feel it best to have our community just use a single platform to keep things simple.
I realize a Tier 3 investment is a Big Ask for many. It definitely was a huge budget hit for me personally as I did not have funding plans to invest in a new community virtual platform given what I have already. But I felt this was worth the switch and more importantly, our community members will be excited once they experience it and feel well served.
I am withholding user feedback for now because, again, I have to host my first event. But I know what I'm getting into here and I'm quite confident given my limited exposure to the platform that this was the right decision to make. I hope this review is helpful.
