Q: Are you able to detect when the email address was created (or the age of the email address)?
We would like to reject email addresses newly created as spam. Also, are you able to detect if the address comes from a free email provider other than the obvious Gmail, Yahoo, outlook, hotmail etc?

May 15, 2024A: Hi, thank you very much for the questions. Please check the answers to your questions below:
1. Can we detect the age of an email address? No, it's generally not possible to directly determine the age of an email address just by looking at the address itself or by interacting with it through email communication. Email addresses don't carry metadata that reveals when they were created. If an email server is a catch-all, they won't even need to create an email address. If you send an email that doesn't exist in a catch-all server (which means should be invalid), they will still receive it and an admin can check that email. But that also doesn't make all catch-all emails bad.
2. As you have mentioned you want to reject emails for spam, 99% of spammers use temporary/disposable emails for website registration. They are easy to create and can be used for email OTP verification. Our system can detect them very efficiently and can even detect dynamically changing temporary email addresses. There are many other legit free email providers other than Gmail, yahoo, outlook etc (i.e. icloud, protonmail, gmx, qq, aol etc), so just excluding all these free emails may not be a good solution in most cases. However, the temporary emails are the ones that you need to exclude.
3. IP address and Geolocation detection: If you are talking about the sender's IP/Location (Not the email server's IP), please note that, our service doesn't check or filter email when you receive an email from a user, but it checks if an email is good or bad for sending the email (can be used on website registration form). However, if you are talking about the email server's IP/Location, that feature is not available at the moment. Most of the email servers are hosted in popular email hostings. So in that way, the IP/location of the hosting provider can be detected. But every hosting provider has good and bad users. So the effectiveness of that is subjective. To be honest, you are the first person who asked for this feature. That's why it's not on our planning list at the moment. However, if lot of the users think that it would be helpful, we can add that feature in the future.
Let us know if you have any other questions. Have a great day.
Also, is IP address or geographic location detection on your roadmap in the near future? Please feel free to answer honestly.
