Very well done

I'm wishing I picked up the agency version. The formatting and editing options are well executed, the AI writes like AI, but you can't really be upset with the developer for that. I do wish regenerating text worked a little better, I think that can be improved.

Some minor issues, that I would barely call issues-- the AI sometimes can't decide on the spelling of words (specifically US and UK words that have difference in spelling, like favorite or favourite, canceled or cancelled). Not a big deal.

Good value, a solid recommend from me.

Not the best

Consistent issues with it stating my resume is not in the correct chronological order, despite it being so (i.e. listing most recent work history to least). As well as messing up the formatting of bullet points as it goes to the second page, which doesn't look good towards you the candidate in regards to your attention to detail if all of a sudden the formatting of bullet points changes.

It also will have you rephrase things in one section to add in key words or phrases from the job description to later have AI rephrase them to eliminate such long winded bullet points... at times getting rid of the words it originally ask you to put in there to better match the job description.

The pro is that it made my resume ATS compliant, but you could probably have done that on your own for free elsewhere.

And you can use other free AI tools to pull out the key words / phrases in a job description to make sure they exist in your resume.

I guess all-in-all, I wouldn't waste your money on this.

issue with pdf import

It seems that some quality issues need attention. Why is it unable to parse the PDF resume? This should be the base feature. Since we mostly save resumes in PDF format, it should be able to parse them properly .

Thanks for letting us know. Could you please share the PDF at help@resumeup.ai
so our team can look into it and resolve the issue? Just a note: PDFs saved as images may not parse correctly.

Not helpful for refining resumes

I purchased a deal to help my daughter refine her resume looking for jobs in the legal profession.
While she said that Resumeup helped organize her resume, she also had issues with generating cover letters. When she included specific wording from different sites for different types of jobs (law clerk vs. personal injury vs. assistant DA), Resumeup gave her the same verbatim cover letter. When she tried substituting job-specific words and phrases from the web sites to the cover letter, Resumeup downgraded the quality of the cover letter.
I'll hold on to one of my licenses just in case Resumeup improves, but at least for submitting legal resumes, it isn't quite there yet.

Great product but needs improvement

I really like how convenient and easy ResumeUp.ai is to use. I work at an employment agency and handle a lot of resumes every day, so I can see the value this tool could bring. What would make it much more powerful is if it could properly cater to different industries. For example, if someone is applying for an electrician role, the resume should highlight the right trade skills and experience instead of just producing a general resume. That kind of tailoring would be a huge improvement and something I’d really love to see.

That being said, I’ve run into quite a few issues. Sometimes the app freezes when I change the resume theme, and certain sections like “References” get left out even though they’re in the upload. Screenshots of resumes aren’t recognised either, which could be solved by adding OCR to read text from images. The job tracker feels a bit limited and could use more flexibility. Uploading existing resumes doesn’t always work well either, and I’ve had to re-enter job history and skills manually. On top of that, the analysis tool sometimes criticises its own AI-generated text or even invents achievements that don’t exist. I’ve also seen problems with the order of work experience where the tool sets it up one way, then tells me it’s wrong, and when I tried fixing it the system duplicated or deleted entries. Exporting as docx sometimes leaves messy markup, and switching between docx and PDF downloads doesn’t always work as expected.

The positives are that the templates look really nice, and the initial feedback does give a good starting point. But overall, it feels like a work in progress. If the developers can fix these bugs, add proper industry-specific tailoring, improve uploads, and polish the analysis tool, then ResumeUp.ai could become a must-have. From my side, I’d be more than happy to pitch it to my company and act as the middleman, because I honestly believe some specific agencies would roll this out at scale and buy hundreds of licenses once it’s ready.

Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback.

Industry-specific tailoring is already on our roadmap, and we’re actively fixing the issues you mentioned (uploads, analysis, exports, etc.).

Glad you find the templates and feedback useful. We’re working hard to make ResumeUp.ai truly agency-ready.
