Solid Platform with room for improvement

Being an extensive user of Infinity, I set out on a quest to find a resolution to some of my annoyances with the platform, which led me to Retable.

The interface may appear more crowded than Infinity due to its spreadsheet style, yet it rapidly felt well-structured. The UI optimizes space usage, minimizing the need for clicks and maximizing workflow efficiency. For instance, when accessing cell details, a resizable and movable pop-up window appears, allowing me to glance at underlying data without leaving the current page.

Its documentation is commendable with a lucidly penned guide that eclipses those offered by Infinity or Stackby. However, some minor oversights were evident, such as the incomplete step 5 in "Rollup column type".

Journeying into Retable's feature set, I noted unique offerings:
- The referencing system of the table is both innovative and slightly complex, granting the ability to manipulate referenced items. This remarkable feature is notably lacking in Infinity. However, it came with caveats, such as requiring multiple columns and allows only single column referencing criteria. In other words, you can't define references using multiple conditions.
- Geolocation - The ability to pin relevant points on a map gives a grant view of the spread and scope of the geographical data.

Despite its promise, Retable is still a maturing platform and some key concerns arose:
Automation -
The platform's automation options currently feel terse and underwhelming, with only simple notifications in offer. The absence of triggering conditions based on row-data means I can't move my operation to Retable. This resulted in the deduction of a taco from my rating.

Formula implementation -
While most formulas performed as expected, certain ones (like "DAYS") produced incorrect results.

Rich Text / Markdown -
With this feature still in the roadmap, converting multiline text could be an expensive migration challenge if you have a lot of cells using markdowns.

Formula data type formatting - Formula columns lack options for specific data type formatting.

Single Entry URL column type -
Only 1 entry is allowed so you will have to create multiple columns if you need to save multile URLs. And what if you don't know how many you need? or if most of your 200 rows need only 2 URLs, except for 2 rows that need 6? Do you create 6 columns that are mostly empty?

In closing, although Retable emerges as an organized and user-friendly platform, it still has some areas of growth before reaching its full potential. However, its commitment to continuous improvement makes it an exciting tool worth keeping an eye on!

Hey!

Thank you for your kind review! We are glad that you are happy with Retable. We are doing our best to develop Retable more and more every day. 😊

About your comments about our feature set;

- It is possible to give multiple references by using more than one reference column in a table. Also, the lookup column helps you to easily view other data related to your referenced column in your table.
- The development stages for our automations are still in progress. For example, we have added Webhooks to automations and they will be live in our upcoming deployment. It is possible to create conditional automations according to row data in automations. When you use the "Send records" option, you can filter your row data and create automations according to specific conditions.
- I can help you better if I know the details of the error you are getting about the DAYS formulas.
- Our rich-text feature is still in the testing phase and will be live in the next deployment.
- If you use the URL column type, you can add more than one URL to this column by separating them with a comma.

Hope it helps! 😊

Welcome to the fam! 🩵
