With some key improvement it could be amazing

Rhym has a nice collection of game templates for creating engaging ad campaigns and also integrates lead forms to collect information either before or after they finish playing. You also can share a leaderboard for additional motivation.

Here is where improvements can be made based on my experience:

1) Rhym currently has around 16 types of games/interactions. While some of them are fun, not all of them are challenging or engaging which may result in users losing interest after a few tries. I would like to see more athletic and/or adventure-type games where a character can hit, run, or jump over obstacles. I recognize these can be custom-developed but the asking price for this is not in everyone's budget.

Also, the Fruit Ninja game has been marked as "coming soon" for nearly 6 months and was already a completed game for us to play on their site so not sure why templatizing it is taking so long.

2) The templates don't allow for any custom CSS or HTML coding to allow for more capabilities. For instance, not every company wants to simply direct their customers to a shopping page after the interaction is complete. Instead, they may want to provide the option to have them continue to a different custom game in the same session or integrate an iframe interaction as an optional advanced screen before they eventually get redirected to a specific site. However, the current design of Rhym's templates doesn't allow for this which is very limiting in my opinion.

3) Currently, other than completing a lead form, the only other options at the end of the game are to either play again or visit a whole new page. There is no way to add more button options or links that users can select from. What also concerns me is that you cannot direct users to another site in the same tab. While I understand the current approach of opening links in new tabs is designed primarily for shoppers who may want to revisit the previous tab in case they forgot the coupon code, not every use case of Rhym revolves around shopping. In fact, when customers play multiple different games while being redirected to new tabs each time, it leaves their old game tabs open which clutters their browser and can lead to sluggish performance depending on their device. Therefore, opening all links in a new tab should be an optional setting that is dependent on how we intend to use Rhym.

So, with more options to customize the intended user experience, Rhym could be amazing. I have found that the team behind Rhym is responsive and has kept up with addressing most issues I have brought to their attention. I am confident that with more time, they will also make these key improvements. Once they do, I will make sure to update my review and rating accordingly.

Hi Pete,

Appreciate your feedback. Let me address all the points

1. So Rhym's usecase is to driven engagement & conversion for digital brands. The games that we have added are tried, tested & proven to work with mass audience. A lot of them are inspired by highly popular casual gaming mechanics. So I would suggest you to try those games with your audience, because sometime personal preference wouldn't align with what mass audience finds easy & engaging

In past 6 months, we have made a lot of progress including adding leaderboard, shopify plugin, 4 games (fruit ninja about to come). Infact we send out updated in our facebook group every 10-15 days. I think the team is working really hard & efficiently, especially considering the premium & complex solution that we are providing. There are no other such easy-to-use no-code platform for the kind of games that we have. These are the new templates we have added
1. Spin the Wheel (Image)
2. Scratch Card
3. Basketball

Plus, Fruit Ninja is ready to go live within a couple of days!

2. One of the biggest advantages of Rhym over competitors is the flexibility of designing games, rarely any of our 500+ users ever needed CSS styling & that's because we have made the creation & editing in our platform very flexible & easy. Its interface is similar to Canva. If you see other editors, they have fixed the background or buttons, while in Rhym you can move around text, and images, and do your styling just like Canva

3. Our use case post-game is to drive traffic to your product/website or to give the option to the user to play Again. Let us know what other options are you looking at, other than "Lead Form", "Custom URL redirection" and "Play Again". We'll be happy to consider if it's a big use case.

4. Coming to the links opening in a new tab, we've observed other players in the market follow a similar approach. But definitely we have noted this down

I would encourage you to try out our games & run a few campaigns to best determine the value. We can help you with ideas if required. Please reach out to me at ekta@rhym.io, would be happy to share my thoughts.
