A useful product, but troubling treatment of early buyers

Ruttl has made meaningful improvements since I originally purchased it, and the product now seems genuinely useful and generally reliable. It provides a super clean and easy way to collect organized, visual feedback from clients without relying on long email threads.

I did however encounter one recent technical issue with a review link. The project initially loads, but after the onboarding screens it gets stuck on an endless loading screen. To Ruttl’s credit, support has been responsive. Through troubleshooting, we determined that it works when I connect through a mobile hotspot, so the issue appears to be related to my regular network somehow. Strange, but nice to see that support has been engaged and helpful.

My biggest concern is how the company has treated its early customers and the features we paid for. I originally purchased Tier 2 and later upgraded to Tier 3 specifically because it included white labeling, custom branding, and CNAME functionality. Those were (and still are!) prominently advertised features on AppSumo and the reason I spent more for the higher tier.

Those features have now been removed from my account. As a result, my “lifetime” Tier 3 license provides less functionality than it did when I purchased it—and no longer includes the specific features that motivated my upgrade.

Early adopters obviously accept a certain amount of risk when supporting developing software. In exchange, however, there is a reasonable expectation that the product will improve over time—not that important paid features will be taken away. Removing advertised functionality from existing lifetime customers feels deeply unfair and undermines my trust in the company.

I currently have a support ticket open and hope Ruttl will honor the original offer by restoring these features to Tier 3 customers. If they resolve this fairly, I’ll be happy to update my review. The core product has real value, but the company needs to stand behind what it sold.
