Q: I'm new to this api thing.

Firstly, from what I understand, this isn't like other programs whereby you upload files and get transcriptions.

This is like if I want to use say Make/Zapier/Active Pieces, etc and send a request to the API and get transcriptions back. AM I right?

Also, would i be able to get transcriptions for any video/audio online? For example, YouTube or some podcast online. Is it that simple as inputting some info or link (e.g. Youtube link or podcast link) or do I have to do a bit more work?

I am trying to automate processes using make/active pieces, etc. Thanks.

A: Salad Transcription API does not have a web experience like Otter.ai or HappyScribe. We don't support Youtube or any link that isn't available for download. Most customers use a simple storage service like S3, or https://docs.salad.com/salad-simple-storage-service

When you have your media URL, you'll need to make an API call to get your transcript, which is easy to do using an API client or service like Zapier or PostMan.

An easy way to get started is by forking the PostMan collection we've created: https://www.postman.com/salad-apis/workspace/salad-transcription-api/collection/34559698-f682b990-8c66-4f8f-a8ce-f2cafe8caaac/fork?origin=request-send

(part 1 response) Thanks, I think I kind of get it. I would need to upload my own video. And you have free temporary storage which we can use to upload our videos/audios and then do what we need to do.

Correct. Let us know what your ideal user experience would be and we'll work on adding it to our short-term roadmap.

(part 2 response) I know many people use make/active pieces, etc., but are not very technical. If you could do a quick few minutes video of uploading a file(s) to your free storage, use make/active pieces HTTP request using the API, etc., that would help people understand what to do for a layperson who is new to using make/activepieces, etc.

Understood. We are already working on these tutorials. Thank you very much for this feedback.
