I purchased the Sales.Rocks deal as it seemed to check a LOT of the boxes I as looking for, especially:

- company data... many with emails!
- email automation
- ability to include LinkedIn outreach in my sequences

And while I think it has a lot of potential, I ended up disappointed with every aspect (plus a few more). Specifically...

Company Data: There's a LOT of information in there and Sales.Rocks seems to be trying to add more. However, the search interface is a little confusing to use and there's certain basic features that I'm surprised aren't in there. Still, I managed to work through most of that.

My company does a lot email outreach so I really appreciated the confidence scores that Sales.Rocks shows and even lets you search on... until I tried to use them and found that the scoring mechanism is flawed. I wrote them about it and they acknowledged that there's an issue but, so far, no resolution.

Email Automation: for core functionality, this works pretty well but there are things that I again found lacking. For example, when I created my first sequence it wouldn't launch. It finally took Support looking into it and finding that I'd set a launch date & time a couple of days prior to when I activated the campaign. Setting it to an hour in the future did the trick but I was surprised that their rules engine couldn't recognize that the campaign was valid to start.

I also am disappointed in the lack of enhancements you can do with the tool. Not to namedrop but the service I was hoping to replace with Sales.Rocks offers around 40 enhancements - things like embedding videos, offering polls, visually-enhanced links and even a meeting scheduler - but there's next to nothing I found in Sales.Rocks that will help my emails stand out.

(The one cool thing they do offer is the personalized image editor... though I could not get it to ever work properly. That could have been user error but I'm not sure.)

LinkedIn: This one's the feature that both sold me on trying Sales.Rocks and that's disappointed me the most. I launched my first campaign, included a LinkedIn outreach step, and never got any connections. Moreover, the reporting in Sales.Rocks doesn't show LinkedIn activity. I had to reach out to Support who then informed me that LinkedIn had changed their code, breaking this capability for all companies, and that they were working on a fix.

I do appreciate the challenge companies like Sales.Rocks face in working around LinkedIn's code but the fact that a) it's not shown in any status or reporting and b) they did not proactively communicate that there was an issue disappointed me. What's more, when they said it WAS working again, I spun up a new campaign, again with a LinkedIn stage, but could find no evidence that the connection invitations went out. It's been over 4 weeks now and I'm still waiting for Support to respond.

Bottom line, I REALLY want to like - and use - this tool but it's just not ready for primetime yet in my opinion.
