So let me explain how it works and what it does.

To activate SAM

Once you get your redemption code please proceed to activating it on the SAM/AppSumo Activation page, if you wish, you can stack multiple codes
You’ll be asked to set and confirm your password, and then sent a confirmation email
Your confirmation email should be received in about a minute, if you don’t see it in your inbox, please check other folders such as SPAM/Promotions.

How to set your SAM Profile in 3 easy steps

When you first login to SAM you will be taken straight to the SAM Intro page
There you will see a pulsing “Complete Profile” button on the left navigation panel
Please go through the 3 Steps and to complete your profile

Step 1: Set your preferences on those you’d like to be introduced to(select a few and you can always update later). Then authorize your Gmail/Outlook inbox contacts to be imported. If you have contacts elsewhere or would like to import your LinkedIn connections, please use the CSV File upload option.

Some details on the import process:

You can always come back to this section and add multiple import files or inbox contacts.

SAM will run the import in the background, enrich your contacts with affinity data (your contacts will never be contacted) and send you a confirmation once all of your contacts are imported.

Data enrichment is a process in which SAM will add data such as Job Title, Social Profiles, Profile Picture, Company background (if you have their website) to your contacts who have made such data available publicly (Google/Social media)

Even if you do not save contacts in your Gmail/Outlook, SAM will identify those that sent you an email or you have sent an email to and add them do your SAM contacts. For example, in the last 3 years let’s say you’d exchanged emails with 2,000 people, SAM will add them as contacts as well as anyone that you manually saved as your contacts.

Step 2: Set your profile with your information like name, title,and picture, etc. This is important so that people know who you invite know that it’s you when you send them an Invite.

Step 3: Invite people that you already know well to join your network. They will receive an invite only version of SAM with loaded features at no cost to them. People that you invite are not users of your SAM account, but simply people that will be asked to join your SAM Network by creating their own SAM Account. It’s no different than how you’d invite someone to join a professional social network.

Details on the Invites process:

Invite people that you think will be relevant to be a part of your network. These are folks you would ask to give you an intro to if they know someone that you're interested in making a connection to. Once they accept your invite, you can see who they know in their contacts (Tom knows Mary, CTO at ABC Corp) and they will see who you know (John knows Kira, CRO, at ACME Corp).
