Q: How to export edited version?

When I edit a video right after recording and try to export, hitting the big blue export button, it still exports the original capture without any of the cuts or adjustments I made. It feels like I can’t export just the part and selections I selected in the editor.

Just as an basic example, I do a screencapture and it's 10 minutes long, and then afterwards I cut the first two minutes of the video in the ScreenBolt editor. And actually in the editor, it's gonna show me now an eight-minute video. However, when I export the video, I will still get a ten-minute video, in the final saved export version. Tried mp4 in "720p"and "original".

Maybe I’m doing something wrong. Would love if this could be clarified or fixed! Btw I just updated to version 1.11.3 (24) and there also seem to be some bug in sound now. Not clear anymore.

A: Hi, thanks for writing this up so clearly, and sorry you hit it.

You weren't missing a step and you weren't doing anything wrong. This was a real bug in Screen Bolt, and your description of it was exactly right: the editor showed you the eight minute video, but the export still wrote out all ten.

What was happening: when your project was a single clip, the export was reading your original recording file from start to finish and ignoring the trim you had made. The editor preview used the trimmed version, which is why the two disagreed. Trimming by dragging the clip's edge and splitting then deleting a piece were both affected. Deleting a marked region was not, which is why this went unnoticed for as long as it did.

It's fixed in 1.11.4, which is out now. Open Screen Bolt and choose Check for Updates from the menu, or download it from screenbolt.co. Your existing projects are fine, just open one and export again.

The same fix also sorts out something you may not have noticed yet: after trimming the start of a video, the mouse pointer, click rings and camera were staying with the original recording rather than your edit, so clicks appeared early and the camera lagged behind the screen.

Thanks again for taking the time to explain it properly, including the ten minute example. That is what made it quick to find.

Thank you for the quick reply and fix! Please also check sound! At least in my experience, and the few test I did in that version ( 1.11.3 (24) ) the recorded sound was "not clean/ clear". Had some "cracks" every once in a while. A bit like an old vinyl record. That is the best I can explain in words. In previous versions the sound was fine. Thank you!

We were working on making the sounds more clean. In the new release this should fixed.
