Q: Issue with cleanings reverting magnification
I've noticed something strange during image processing. I performed a 4x magnification on an image, and while the result was mostly impressive, it introduced an artifact: the belly button appeared in the wrong place. To fix this, I tried cleaning the image, but after cleaning, all the detail was lost and the image became blurry. I also saw that the file size dropped significantly—from 4.9 MB for the magnified image down to just 666 KB for the cleaned version—which explains the loss of detail.
This is a concern because the highest plan already limits the number of magnifications available. While I generally like Seelabs, the combination of limited magnifications and the risk of new artifacts or quality loss is limiting. I hope you’ll consider increasing the number of magnifications available, especially given these issues and a fix.

Jun 9, 2025A: Thanks for the detailed feedback.
Currently, our editor tools (like Clean) work at a maximum resolution of 2048px, which explains the drop in quality and file size after editing your upscaled image.
We totally understand your concern — especially when upscales are limited and the edits can undo some of that quality.
Now for the good parts:
- We’re working on a new version of the upscaler that’s more consistent and avoids common artifacts.
- We’re also planning to unify image generation and upscale credits, so you’ll have more flexibility with how you use your quota.
Both improvements are scheduled to roll out during June — thanks again for your thoughtful feedback, it helps us a lot!
