A: Hi,

Unfortunately not. We support STEP imports so you can edit your AutoCAD and Bricscad designs in SelfCAD but we only support mesh-based export formats.

I hope this helps.

Best,

Aaron

I find it a bit odd that - as a CAD software - you don't support some of the most important file formats, such as DWG and DXF. E.g. in the construction industry you can hardly function if you don't have software capable of reading DWG/DXF, and in some countries it would be bordering unprofessional to ask an architect to save files in special formats just for one contractor. In addition, it has to be possible to export at least 2D drawings to PDF (of course you can always "save as PDF", but will it be editable and not just an image wrapped in a PDF container?). I believe these things are absolutely necessary if you truly want to make a dent in the CAD market.

I hope you will add these formats to your roadmap (if you haven't already), since SelfCAD seems like a powerful tool with a very nice UI.

Btw, do you have a helix function, like FreeCAD? It is normally a pain to draw e.g. twisted yarns or wires...

Hi there,

Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention and for being very detailed about why these formats are important.

We do plan to them to the list of formats we support and we've bumped this up to the dev team.

As for your other question about a Helix-like function, we have the Spiral Generator tool that you can use to created twisted shapes.

Hope this helps!
