Professional SEO consultant and web developer since '94. The tool had solid data and I found it to be very useful for the price.
Let's compare it against my go-to, Ahrefs, and former AppSumo deals SE Ranking and Serpstat (both of which have improved greatly since being sold here).
The tool was able to get 991 keywords against Ahrefs 6k, but to be fair it got most of the big ones and plenty to get started with. So for keyword research I give it a solid B. Data on tools like this gets better with time, so it's off to a great start. The same query, Serpstat gave 4.8k keywords, and SE Ranking gave 686.
Backlinks are hard to compete on. Crawling the web is expensive. 28k links vs 36k links in Ahrefs is very respectable. Serpstat was 22k, SE Ranking had 37k. So this is a solid player in backlink research.
Clustering tool: It's a bit sad as it only clusters 200 keywords, so it is not very useful for me. My project this morning was 2951 after cleaning the list. Nice addon for smaller sites or if you break up your lists, but not up to pro levels.
I haven't tried the search console integration or the SERP checker yet, but I believe there is already plenty of value here without them.
No one tool is best at everything, but this shows the value of Semdash at a lifetime price. If you need a general SEO tool, Semdash will give you a solid keyword and backlink research tools in one. For a lifetime price, I say max stack and enjoy.

"No valid keywords found in the API response" - I'm unable to use the longtail tool. I think it's due to a bug (already reported) that won't let me save my OpenAI API key. I assume I'll be able to get more down the road. I still see plenty of value in the tool.

We were able to fix the OpenAI API key issue with a quick patch. The "Longtail keywords" tool generated 3.9k keywords. These are impressive results, and I'm happy to work with this developer. A+ support.

The reason is that is Ahrefs provides all the data in 1 tool but we break down data into 4 tools each provides different strategy of searching like keyword discovery does keyword planner search, typically 1K results.
long tail keywords offers a lot more data and you can customize it based on exact match or phrase match, it increases the results significantly.
Then you have the people also search for which gives you keyword ideas based on 'people also search' section at the bottom of SERP
and the "People also ask" questions appearing in google.
another thing is we set a default filter to remove synonyms of the same keyword, you can manually switch it off and you will see higher number. this is a feature i didn't see on semrush, as a result you might see more keywords but just synonyms of each other ex ("marketing platform", "marketing platforms" )
What i'm saying is you might have received 991 keyword based on your search but thats based on searching 1 endpoint, try the others and i think you will get a lot more than Ahrefs.
Backlinks count: i'm publishing a paper on that this week. basically main difference is we report on LIVE backlinks and remove lost, dead after 6 months. unlike semrush and ahrefs that retain those dead backlinks for upto 3 years as, artificially inflating the database with useless info. A better comparison would be to check for live backlinks count across the different platforms and there Semdash really shines over the rest.
