Neat little tool, but it's a massive resource hog
I've been using SEO Booster for about three weeks now, and while it's a helpful tool, it adds about 400-500kb of bloat to your pages, which significantly slows them down. Because of this, I can't use all the features the plugin offers. Thankfully, I use Perfmatters on my site to selectively choose which scripts run and which don't. I was honestly surprised by how much weight it adds to pages—I don't recall seeing anything this resource-intensive in my 15 years in this field.

Jan 22, 2026Thank you for the feedback, and you're absolutely right—previous versions of SEO Booster were loading unnecessary JavaScript libraries on every page load, which was a significant performance issue. We completely understand your frustration.
The good news is that version 7 (released today) was built from the ground up with performance in mind. We've completely redesigned how the plugin loads resources. Instead of loading all the heavy JavaScript libraries on every page load, the plugin now only loads what you need, when you need it. For example, on the edit page, you now click a button in the UI to load the necessary JavaScript and fetch data from the server. This means all the heavy processing happens only when you actually use those features—not every time you open a page to make a small edit.
This should dramatically reduce the bloat you were experiencing. The 400-500kb overhead you mentioned should be significantly lower now, especially if you're just doing routine page edits without using the advanced SEO analysis features.
We'd love to hear how version 7 performs on your site. If you give it a try and still experience performance issues, please let us know—we want to make sure we've truly solved this problem. Your feedback has been invaluable in helping us build a better product.
Thank you for sticking with us and for the detailed report.
