'Shortpixel for Google Drive' does exactly what it promises. I bought this and put it right to work optimizing stored images and PDFs on my Google Drive. I estimate I will save about 20GBs when I'm done. That's very impressive.

I found the onboarding process at Shortpixel to be somewhat confusing.

After you sign up / login, I *think* you need to go back and check your email for a login password to activate your account completely. So I kinda did a login-logout-login thing. This worked. Confusing.

All of your Google Drive folders will now appear within shortpixel. Magic. You simply click through them and select the files that you want optimized. So far from what I can tell (bummer), you need to go through your folders one by one which feels inefficient -- hopefully they will improve this process and add a more efficient bulk compress option. Maybe it's there but I couldn't find it.

From there it's fairly easy - just locate and click on the Google Drive option on the ShortPixel dashboard. You'll be guided through a short tutorial where you will eventually find a (too small) button in the last step that allows you to connect to your Google Drive account. It's easy to miss so pay attention.

From there it's smooth sailing and you never have to go through this drive connection process again.

Selected images and PDFs are compressed quickly (impressive!) and you can carry on with other tasks on your laptop. No need to hang around. If you want, you can watch a status bar as it compresses your files. Upon completion, optimized folders turn green on the Shortpixel dashboard which is a really swell feature. Well done folks.

I definitely recommend this app - it's a keeper and does exactly what it promises.
