Q: Hello Sumo-lings, we're happy to run our 4th AppSumo deal!
🥳
I'm Alex Florescu, Head of Product and ShortPixel co-founder. ShortPixel is the favorite image optimization tool among WordPress developers and web-speed experts. We started in 2014 and we've been successfully focusing on speeding websites ever since!
Until now, over 500K customers used our services, and we optimized over 2.5 Billion images on more than 1 Million websites. So, in case you're wondering, we're here to stay :-)
Our tools bring value to anyone running a website. Images are the heaviest component of a website (usually occupying around 70% of the space) and ShortPixel can, on average, optimize the images by 50%.
Having smaller images means that a website will load faster. A speedier website leads to more conversions and more $$$. Ah, not to mention that Google also loves faster-loading websites, and they tend to be better ranked ;-)
Our service can be used to automatically optimize images on any WordPress-powered website, through our 2 popular plugins:
✅ShortPixel Image Optimizer - which optimizes the images as they are uploaded on the site, and it can also optimize your whole Media Library with just a few clicks! ✅ShortPixel Adaptive Images - which serves your site's already optimized images, smartly crops and sizes them, thus making them fit perfectly on all viewports.
More than that, you can use our service on any PHP-powered website, with the use of our API (in the docs you'll find usage examples), as well as on Shopify stores, thanks to our Shopify app!
A: Codes also relate to CDN traffic. This will appear in your account once you associate a domain. For more support specific questions please contact us directly here: https://shortpixel.com/contact
A: Hello, please take a moment to read our AppSumo FAQ, it also covers what happens when the CDN quota is exceeded: https://help.shortpixel.com/article/437-appsumo-2020-deal-faq
Q: I'm sorry if this has been asked, or its just a dumb question, I just started my online biz and still have a lot to learn.
I currently optimize my images manually, on reduceimages.com and tinypng when needed. Having it done and served through Shortpixel CDN means that the images will be served even faster for my users?
In short, I mean, besides avoiding the manual work, there is another advantage for getting this deal, right?
A: Hello rheavictor, indeed, besides automating the process and saving you time, using either of ShortPixel's image optimization plugins will make sure the images are optimally compressed and cropped to the right size. And quickly served from a global CDN.
Also, please note, that while it helps to optimize images before adding them to your WordPress this isn't optimal as the thumbnails (which are the images actually served to customers) are generated by WordPress upon upload and these aren't optimized even if you optimized the original image.
In Shopify the images still get distributed through CDN, right? I currently use cloudflare on the free plan. You know if there is any problem if I start using Shortpixel CDN (I'm dont understand that much about CDNs and stuff, as we can see...).
Q: Hi!
I have an ecommerce, platform here in Brazil, I can incorporate JavaScript code in it, will it work for me to use your CDN?
A: Hello vicoshalom, we have tools that work on any PHP-powered website: https://shortpixel.com/api-tools
Besides that, we have JavaScript tools that can work on any website with a bit of tweaking, please take 5 minutes to read this article: https://blog.shortpixel.com/how-to-get-adaptive-images-on-non-wordpress-websites/
Q: I bought a single code few days ago and I need one more code.
If I buy a single code again, whether my monthly quota is changed to 30,000 image optimization credits or it will stay 15,000 image optimization credits per month?.
You can buy up to 5 codes and stack them. So you can buy one more code (hurry up, only 14h left to buy then the deal is over for good) stack it and you'll get 30K image optimization credits.
Unfortunately I never heard of any of such acronyms. Let's say I have a NextJS frontend fetching data from a Postgres or Mongo database. Would I be able to work with Shortpixel to post/fetch optimized images? Is it possible / is there any documentation to work with a modern JS frontend instead of WP or similar monolithic CMS?
Sorry for not being more explicit :-( SPAI = ShortPixel Adaptive Images WP plugin SPIO = ShortPixel Image Optimizer WP plugin
From what I understand you could use one of our APIs: https://help.shortpixel.com/article/201-shortpixel-adaptive-images-api-parameters https://shortpixel.com/api-docs
Q: Looking at the instructions for adding Shortpixel CDN/Adaptive images to a non-Wordpress site it has the instructions below.
But these seems to mean manually editing every single image tag. I use Rapidweaver to build websites and that makes it easy to add images or warehoused images, but you seem to be saying I'd then need to go into the code, rip out what Rapidweaver has done, and manually change every occurrence of src with data-spai-src. That just seems like a MASSIVE amount of work on even a medium sized site, let alone a big one, and it means the various CMS tools that I use, such as Total CMS, would no longer work as any images would default to src.
Am I right or is there a much easier way?
P.S. I am already a Shortpixel user, but wanted to add some more codes so as to make use of the CDN.
YOUR INSTRUCTIONS FOR NON-WORDPRESS SITES
Now you’ll have to replace all the src attributes of your images HTML markup with data-spai-src. For example, if you had this URL:
This step depends a lot on your website and the way it is built. It may require some replacements in the DataBase, or the result may be achieved through a code that replaces src with data-spai-src.
A: Hey Pip, thank you for being a ShortPixel customer :-)
As for your question: I believe it is rather too technical for being addressed here, please use our contact form for in-depth support: https://shortpixel.com/contact
But as a general rule: depending on how a website was created, changing how the IMG tags can be very simple or...not so simple :-)
Q: What is the advantage of using this tool compared to just using an image compressor to make the image size ...
smaller before loading to a web page? Also, if 100,000 people view your website that has 100 photos, will that use up all the memeory fo the 1 code plan? Thanks
A: Hello and thank you for your interest in ShortPixel!
As explained in our AppSumo FAQ: https://help.shortpixel.com/appsumo-2020 We have 2 plugins, ShortPixel Image Optimizer (SPIO) and ShortPixel Adaptive Images (SPAI) You can read here how one compares to the other https://help.shortpixel.com/article/179-shortpixel-adaptive-images-vs-shortpixel-image-optimizer
As for 100,000 people question, I believe this Q&A from our FAQ could help you:
Q: How much is 125 GB? How do I know it is enough for my website?
A: 125 GB is quite a lot! :-) We cannot tell you for sure whether it is enough for your website/month but you can estimate it yourself easily. Considering that an average webpage contains 1 MB of images then you could theoretically have 100,000 page views per month without exceeding your monthly quota. And if the images of your site weren't optimized yet then it is even better; if the images are optimized by 50% on average by SPAI then you could have the images served for 200,000 page views per month with the same 100 GB bandwidth!
From our observations, 125 GB of monthly CDN traffic is enough for more than 95% of the internet websites.
A: Hello Holsen, 125GB is a lot and it is very likely it will be more than enough for a regular website. Anyway, if you want to be sure you can buy 2-3 codes and start using ShortPixel Adaptive Images. After 1 month, you'll know for sure how much you website needs in terms CDN traffic and you can refund 1-2 codes if you feel they are too much.
Q: What CDN plan with the old 2019 5 codes LTD?

Q: I am using the siteground image optimizer.
Do I still need this?
Alex_ShortPixel
May 15, 2024A: Hello,
in our opinion ShortPixel offers a much better way of optimizing images than SiteGround so the answer would be YES!
You could buy a code, give it a try and then refund the code if you're not fully happy with the results.

Nice.
In this part: "ShortPixel's image optimization plugins will make sure the images are optimally compressed and cropped to the right size"
The auto crop and optimal compression works for Shopify too? Or only for the Wordpress since it has the 2 plugins?
I mean, the Shopify app does all the work?
Thank you.
Oh, and I'm sorry forgot one thing:
