We have many clients that are hosted at SiteGround and still use ShortPixel as the compression is better and also our image optimization plugins come with a lot of options that SG plugin just doesn't offer.
I invite you to give it a try, just deactivate the image optimization option in SG plugin and then give ShortPixel plugin(s) a try.
On every one of my sites I have deactivated siteground image optimization and installed shortpixel. The results were usually a full second in load time. That being said moving from hostnine or godaddy to siteground with short-pixel is usually 2-4 seconds load time savings.
Nothing wrong with siteground, but you shouldn't toss out the shortpixel baby with the bathwater by any means.
