Great product but shady acquisition strategy
I've been using Shortpixel for 6 months now, and I'm pretty happy with the service overall. I've found that images are not best crompressed compared to GTMetrix because it sometimes complains that there is an extra 2-3% compression that could be done.
But considering that this is essentially the same deal but better, there is no reason to say that this is not a 5 taco deal, but one:
In October they launched a simple offer: 5K credits for $29
I bought a total of 5 codes for 25K credits ($145). More than enough for my little company.
Since it's an LTD I thought that this was worth buying enough credits in order to have spare credits every month
I've been spending this month an average of 5K images (maybe 1 month I went to 10k).
So let's calculate
REGULAR PLAN:
5K images per month = $5 x 5 months = $25
+ 1 month of 10K images = $10
Let's say I would have spent $25+$10 = $35 in this 6 months
Someone could say: But dude, you have a 25K credit Lifetime deal plan not a 1 month timer.
True. But there is a caveat: If I knew they were going to launch another plan now for $39 = 12K credits I would have waited 6 months paying those $35 and NOW I would have spent $39 x 3 = $117 for 36K credits LTD
So essentially I would have spend ($117+$35) - $145 = $7 and I will have had 36K monthly credits instead of 25K!!!
But since Shortpixel never informed us that they were going to launch a second plan much better, we could not take this decision :(

Allow me to make a few comments:
1) GTMetrix complains because, in their test, they also remove the color profile form images. Removing the color profile may lead to slightly smaller images indeed.
But the bad part is that removing the color profile can lead to images with altered colors.

2) we actually launched the last offer in August 2018 :-)
And allow me to emphasize something: you don't need to buy this new deal. As previously explained, this deal includes a NEW product (ShortPixel Adaptive Images) and any of the previous buyers can use a NEW product without needing to buy this new deal.

So basically you can look at the glass being half full (you spent money, you got value out of this and you can also use a NEW product with the a previous purchase) or you can look at the glass being half empty. The choice is yours :-)
Last but not least: we didn't know when we launched the deal in August 2018 that we'll ever run another deal here on AppSumo. So no one could have informed you as no one knew :-)
