Cautiously intrigued but have questions

Only just getting set up.

It's fairly straightforward - lots of great features. Sidekick reminds quite a lot of Rambox.app, by the way, which is a good thing. Very similar apps.

It may seem trivial, but a few surprising things so far - even though this is based on Chrome, there is NO way for you to set your own home page or new tab.

I recently found the perfect new tab extension that allowed me to get everything I wanted setup perfectly - then allows the user to export so it can be imported into any other browser where the extension is installed, anything based on FireFox or Chrome.

The new tab extension installs fine here, but Sidekick has for some reason chosen to control these settings (home page and new tab). Which means that they have removed it from the UI when you navigate to the settings. What else is missing? And why?

This is minor, but it would also be great if there was a more obvious way to use containers. The app allows you to log into multiple instances of Gmail, for example... or any app. So there must be some sort of container setup behind the scenes (separate cookies and sessions)... but there's no way for the end User to manage any of that. Rambox, for example, lets you create multiple Profiles - then when you add any app, you can select which profile you want it to use.

Not a show stopper by any means.

As for the Pros:

* It's a nice looking, fast, and well designed app

* WorkSpaces are nice way to have context specific setups - seems to work a lot like Chrome Profiles

* Sessions are great - groupings of tabs, UI / UX is nice, seems easy to use

Going to give it a try, but being forced into a Sidekick branded new tab and seeing it everytime I create a tab is a drag, and seems so unnecessary.

Hi Roger!

Thank you for sharing your detailed and thoughtful feedback! We're glad that you find Sidekick enjoyable.

As for the new tab page, the Sidekick new tab page displays some vital settings, and we couldn't come up with its appearance so that we could save browser functionality without it being confusing. However, this aspect will undoubtedly be improved, and we have such plans in our backlog. We do not have a specific ETA for that, but we will do our best to make your experience with Sidekick more enjoyable.

We can advise you to create the custom app as an alternative to the new tab page. Cmd + click on the custom app, and the new tab with the website you need will be opened.

Please feel free to contact us when you need any assistance.
