Q: Hey, awesome Sumo-ling community!

This is Son with SimpleLogin!

SimpleLogin helps you protect your online identity (think VPN for email) and control your inbox. With SimpleLogin, you can create a unique email address (called "alias") for every service. You can just disable an alias if it receives spam. When using your personal email address everywhere, it becomes your online identity and advertisers can easily track you. With aliases, they will have a harder time to follow you.

Emails sent to an alias are forwarded to your inbox. You can reply to an email as usual: the response will be sent from your alias, keeping your real mailbox hidden. You can also send emails from an alias to a contact.

FAQ:

1. Can I use the lifetime deal if I already have a premium subscription?

Absolutely. Please note that the payment for the current subscription isn't refunded.

2. How is SimpleLogin different compared to other email alias services?

We created SimpleLogin because we couldn't find any service:
- that's 100% open source. Never trust your emails with a black box.
- that has no ads, no tracker. We never put ads in your emails to push you to upgrade.
- where you can easily reply to emails or send emails from an alias.
- that supports unlimited bandwidth, unlimited number of emails.
- that's available on all platforms (mobile, web, browser extension)
- that supports security features like WebAuthn (Yubikey), TOTP and PGP.

3. I can use my plus sign (+) trick to create unlimited email address, why do I need SimpleLogin?

Though practical, this trick has some downsides:

- Using + trick doesn't protect your privacy: one can easily remove the + part to have your real email. If your + address appears in the data breach, your real address is in the hands of spammers too. You could check whether your email is leaked using website like https://haveibeenpwned.com
- By removing the + part, advertisers can link these + addresses together to have your browsing history.
- You cannot reply from the + address: your real email will appear as the sender.
- The + trick is well-known and some websites don't allow sign-ups with email addresses that contain +.

More details can be found in our article about the plus sign trick on https://simplelogin.io/blog/email-alias-vs-plus-sign/

4. What happens if SimpleLogin is gone?

This is probably the hardest question that a company has to answer :).

As we are using SimpleLogin on a daily basis, for both our personal and professional usage, in the worst case, we will close registrations for new users so SimpleLogin can only be used by existing users.

If all this is still not enough, you can also run a SimpleLogin instance yourself as SimpleLogin code is open-source and we give detailed instructions on how to run it.

If you have any other question, please consult our FAQ page at
https://simplelogin.io/faq/ or reach out to us at appsumo@simplelogin.io (yes this is also an alias)

Cheers!
Son.
