We wanted to clarify about how Sinosend manages our "Unlimited" option for your file expiry and how we are not deviating from our unlimited promise; Users may have noticed that we now have maximum of 1 year file expiry when you creating a new Transfer. I want to clarify that you still have unlimited expiry for your uploads, though the way it's managed has changed.
We found that some users, might set an "unlimited" expiry and then never log back in leaving there unlimited links exposed, passwordless and unattended. This leads to files being inadvertently left publicly accessible for far longer than intended, which could pose a security risk for you and our system. It also left us open to abuse.
To address this, we've introduced a maximum initial expiry of one year. This isn't about limiting your access; it's about providing a regular, gentle reminder. It ensures you stay in control and aware of what files are shared, helping to keep your data secure and our system protected from misuse.
Your files are never deleted when a transfer expires; they simply become inactive. You can easily log in anytime and extend access for another year, indefinitely, maintaining "unlimited" availability for as long as you need it. If you don't extend the expiry and don't log in, we'll send two reminder emails asking if you want to extend. If no action is taken, the transfers are then permanently removed 60 days after the initial expiry. For details pls see the founder notes in our appsumo page, and link to our full terms of use : https://appsumo.com/products/sinosend/#founder-post-2
To extend an expired on a expiring transfer, just log into your account, and you'll find the option there. We believe this small adjustment provides greater peace of mind and security for all our users.
So, to summarise: We're still offering unlimited expiry; the way it's managed is simply more active and transparent.
