Established business
I've tried WIX, Wordpress, PASS, Waldo, Photoshelter and now SlicPic - and probably something else that I've forgot.
All of these services have their own perks, but I've never built a website as fast as I did with SlicPic! The sole reason I bought this was because this went through my mind:
"I need a webpage fast, and my current Wordpress setup takes to long - especially optimising it for speed..."
Then I found this totally random on AppSumo, I checked it out, compared it to other services and I noticed that this is no startup company - this is a fully fledged, up and running working business that's offering an account for a onetime fee - WHAT?! I checked out their website, the howto videos etc so I know what kind of features that's available and then I took the opportuniy before it's gone - and am I satisfied or what?!
One of the main issues with a photography website is the speed, you want high quality but fast loading webpages - that's not a good combo since high quality images requires larger files. But damn does my portfolio look wesome and load fast now! š
I'm also searching for a more "fun" way to deliver my images instead of using my OneDrive business folder - it does the job beautifully without any issues, but hosting a gallery with a download option is way more "fun". I'm still reviewing this for my larger clients since I want it to look really pro - and I can easily make it look really pro with Wordpress - but then I need to optimise everything etc... So yeah, I'm really looking for a way to use SlicPic for this!
The public gallery feature got me confused, and I haven't really found out what's it for and how to utilise it to the max, but I bet I get a hang on it after spending more the 2 hours on the platform - yes, that's right. From when I setup my account I was done within 2 hours! Ofc I had to wait for the DNS servers, but choosing a design, upload images etc etc - 2 hours! That's fast!
I would love to have more templates and more designing options, but maybe that's because I'm so used to be able to edit whatever I want however I want? But if they want to evolve the business even more, then this could be something to think about. They have a lot of tools, but you can't compare it to using Elementor in Wordpress - obviously, but then that's not what this SaaS is for. Nontheless - I want even more designing options š
They have a Lightroom plugin which I haven't been able to try out yet, but I bet it works like all the others for uploading, what I really want is if someone rates an image 4 stars, I want it to reflect in my Lightroom Classic - so I know what images I'm supposed to edit if I use the service as a client proofing service.
Anyway, long review! But in short - buy this if you want to sped up your portfolio. I've tried a lot of different way of hosting my portfolio during the years, and if you want something fast and reliable - I can highly recommend this! Just buy, try it out and you won't get dissapointed!
