Q: Data security - FreshBooks and Quicklooks Questions
1. looking to better understand how you’re protecting the data that we upload and your system. Are you SOC2 type 2 compliant or ISO 270001 compliant? How can I trust? My data is not being compromised or not being harvested for other purposes or protected it against hackers since Financial data is probably the number one goal for hackers to gain access to.
2. The video talked about importing my bank statements, but it did not talk about importing my invoices from FreshBooks?.
3. I also assumed by the bank statements you can also import credit card statements?
4. If I already have QuickBooks is your system designed to replace that or be a partner with QuickBooks online?

May 19, 2025A: When you upload your statements, they are securely stored in a leading cloud storage service (in the US) using encryption. We also enforce strict access policies to ensure your data remains protected and never exposed on our servers.
Anyways, as stipulated by GDPR, we cannot retain sensitive data indefinitely. We have a sensitive data policy in place to address this requirement. After carefully considering feedback from AppSumo users, we have also added the option to permanently delete your statements after processing.
Finally, all our users have the right to be forgotten. If they choose to close their accounts, we will completely remove all sensitive and personally identifiable data from our servers
We import data from original bank and credit card statements. You can also upload your original invoices and import them into Smart Clerk.

Excellent question, same. So it's compliant with GDPR but I am still wondering if, given no certifications, what Terms of Service and/or Privacy Policy guarantees you are making to make up for that. Can you please ensure these are updated to explicitly provide that "None of our financial data will be shared or sold, nor analyzed for purposes outside of the immediate provision of the software?"
