As the title above suggests, I wasn't impressed with the SmartTask (ST) in the first place, at all. It - to me - seemed like a fairly basic PM tool. But, the next day, I decided to take it out for spin. After playing around with ST for a couple of days - I fell in love with it. The more I got to know its features with simplicity in mind, the better I liked it. ❤️❤️❤️

Simple things like the way we can delete/create tasks, automation on each task board and advanced filters are such a lovely features available on SmartTask.

The recent and mostly favoured PM tool by many - has been NiftyPM thus far. So, I decided to compare SmartTask (ST) VS NiftyPM (NPM) - based on my personal experience - below:

👉 Portfolio/Group >> NPM calls Portfolio and ST calls Group. The WINNER = DRAW 👈👏👏👏

👉 Overview/Portfolio >> NPM calls Overview and ST calls it Portfolio. ST's Portfolio is more feature rich and customizable. The WINNER = ST 👈👏👏👏

Project Dashboard >> NPM has overview dashbard for each project. This feature is not available on ST. The WINNER = NPM

Timeline & Analytics >> ST has impressive Timeline feature which allows users to make changes (dependency/dates) from within. Analytics feature is an icing on the cake. NPM doesn't have these features. The WINNER = ST 👈👏👏👏

👉 Custom-domain/white-label >> ST implemented this feature last year. A point to note: When you invite someone to a project - it sends them to the following URL: https://auth.smarttask.io then when they login, it will take them to https://app.smarttask.io and not to your custom-domain. So, it's not a fully white-label solution. Since this feature is still unavailable on NPM, The WINNER = ST 👈👏👏👏

👉 Sub-task > NPM only allows sub-task (first-level) as a list but with ST - sky is the limit. This is one of the most favourable feature of mine on any PM tool as it gives me a full flexibility based on my requirements. The WINNER = ST 👈👏👏👏

👉 Text editor > NPM has a very basic one whereas ST has a feature rich text editor. The WINNER = ST 👈👏👏👏

👉 Tags > Nifty allows full customization but its automated on ST and allows no customization, at all. The WINNER = ST 👈👏👏👏

👉 Reminders > NPM allows only one reminder | ST allows unlimited reminders. The WINNER = ST 👈👏👏👏

👉 Recurring events >> NPM allows full customization but ST won't have option to setup asymmetrically. The WINNER = NPM 👈👏👏👏

👉 Time tracking >> NPM has a play button available on each task which nicely blends in BUT this feature on ST is disabled by default and once you enable it, it appears on top of each task - stands out so annoyingly and distracting. The WINNER = NPM 👈👏👏👏

👉 Dependency/Milestone >> Both have this feature. The WINNER = DRAW 👈👏👏👏

👉 CRM >> NPM doesn't have this feature. The WINNER = ST 👈👏👏👏
