Honest review, after actually using it for real...

So I'm an automation fan, expert and use many automation tools including AgileCRM, Zapier, ActiveCampaign, and others.. So I purchased this hoping it would work similar to Mailshake.com (with advanced workflow options, visual interface).... and here's what I think about this system

My review is about the E-mail drip campaigns, which is what the AppSumo is really offering. I'm NOT reviewing the email finder/verifier tool...

1. The interface is nice and easy to use... but features are limited.
- Example: The step that allows you to "check" something (if this then that), called "trigger" on Snov.io only allows you to a) check if email is opened, or b)check if a link (any link, not a specific link) from an email is clicked...

That's good, but not specific enough to check a specific link... but ok.
That's the ONLY think the "Trigger" step can do.. which is NOT much, that is why I mean it's basic.

2. Editing your E-mail campaigns is a DISASTER.
I won't go into detail of how I did the testing... but let me just say this:
I by mistake personalized an email template with "Hi {firstname}}", which was missing one { on the left, and thus... 24+ emails were sent with the actual text "Hi {firstname}}" instead of "Hi Joe" (personalized). I saw this quickly... so I went and "PAUSE" the campaign
a) Nothing stopped, the emails were already on queue and kept being sent from my GMAIL

So then I decided to Edit the template, and fix it to be "Hi {{firstname}}", which is NOW correct. I then turned the campaign back on, HOPING that now the rest of the emails would be sent correctly...
b) But NO, that didn't happen. The system kept sending emails that were no personalized correctly saying "Hi {firstname}}"

I then decide to STOP the campaing (instead of pause), then edit the templates again, and Re-start it..... The system keeps "processing" for over 5-10 min, at which point you can't STOP it or PAUSE it...

c) I kept seeing more emails sent with the wrong "Hi {firstname}}", and I freaked out... so I decided to stop the campaign again. At this point 150+ emails with the WRONG personalization have been sent (and there's NO way to stop it)

Then I finally decide to completely ERASE (Delete) the campaign, hoping this would stop it... but NO. that did NOT do the trick either.

d) 2 hours go by after I deleted the campaign, and the system KEPT sending emails with the wrong personalization.

Last option was to Disconnect Snov.io from my G-mail account, that was the only solution to the problem

3. Their new "scheduling" system does NOT work as advertised.
So Snov.io lets you choose the schedule of when emails will be sent out, let's say 7am to 4pm Pacific time (California). This is what I chose...
- a) When I turned on the campaign it was my 5pm, so I was hoping the system would NOT send any emails until tomorrow at 7am... but that was also NOT the case... The system sent over 18 emails when I turned it on, which means that the system doesn't work.

We are really sorry about your negative experience with snov.io Drip Campaigns feature.

1. As for triggers, indeed, we have only two options at the moment, and advanced link tracking is already in our backlog.

2. Let me dwell on variables. We'd recommend to use variables from the drop-down menu to avoid issues with personalization.
You can upload a file with the mapped custom fields and use them as variables.
Concerning interruptiong and edition of a running campaign. Unfortunately, when the queue is processed, the only way to stop sending emails is to delete a sender's email account.
Edits will be applied to new recipients or those ones for which emails haven't been processed yet and added to the general emails queue.

We understand that the case mentioned in #2 could cause a lot of inconveniences and issues, and we are already working on fixing issues you've faced.
We do understand your frustration, and we have escalted this issue to our development team in order to find the solution as soon as possible.
Your feedback highlights the importance of this options/features for our users, as here, at Snov.io, our greatest desire is to ensure our customers are satisfied at all levels with the product and services.

3. As for the scheduling feature, please note that you've selected the pasific timezone GMT-11, and at the moment when you were launching the campaign, it was 1pm according to the Pacific timezone, which is between 7am and 4 pm as it was set in the schedule.

Again, thank you for taking your time to test snov.io platform and give the detailed feedback, it will help us to improve the platform and our tools. We hope to offer you better services in future.
