Q: Comparison to Neat Receipts

Hello, I have been a Neat Receipts user for a long time. Many years. I do use Neat as a receipt storage, and lite reporting from those receipts. I can see I might expand that if I make the move to your software.

Some questions:

1. Can you draw any comparison to Neat Receipts?
2. Neat allows me to scan to a local drive as well as the Neat cloud, does SparkReceipt allow the same?
3. In addition to receipts, I scan invoices, bills, other financial and transactional related documents, and at times just regular documents to get the paper off my desk or to keep from having to file it. Can I do this with SparkReceipt?
4. If I move to SparkReceipt, is there any way to import Neat Data over to Spark?
5. Can you explain the per-code limitations? If I scan a receipt, a 3-page invoice, a 2-page document, what are the "costs" in credits?

A: Hi,

A great question. Neat is only available in US and Canada, with a paywall in place, so I don't have first hand experience. If someone here wants to give their thoughts, I would appreciate it. Otherwise I will answer based on publicly available information.

1. They have similar features, such as receipt scanning, automatic data extraction and general business document management. They are ahead in some areas but behind in others. They for example support direct bank feed reconciliation, and we support any bank statement via AI transaction extraction. They are priced at the 4x cost for a yearly subscription and 10x yearly cost compared to this AppSumo deal.
2. SparkReceipt is cloud-only, although the feature to e.g. scan directly to camera roll is requested from time to time.
3. Yes, SparkReceipt is designed to handle business documents in addition to just receipts.
4. I am not sure about their export options, but if you can download your files from there, you can use the mass upload feature to import them into SparkReceipt. This will however trigger a new AI analysis for each, which might reassign e.g. your categories and whatnot. I also plan to support CSV imports as soon as possible, as that is highly requested. But it's not yet done.
5. For receipts and documents, there are no limits even on Tier 1. The credit system mentioned currently only affects line transaction extractions from bank statement files.

But the best way to know is try and compare. You can purchase this deal and try it within the refund window - or try our completely free tier before making a decision.

Hope this helps.

Best Regards,
Antti

I would like to purchase this once you add the ability to scan directly from my camera roll. Thank you!

Just to avoid confusion, you can indeed already scan images directly FROM the camera roll with the mobile app (or uploading in the web app). I was talking about the feature that would save the scan taken with a camera also into the phone's gallery after it is added to the SparkReceipt app.
