It's Great, But Needs Extra Functionality
As soon as I saw this was aiming to be a competitor of Podia, I had to purchase. I love Podia, honestly never thought I'd leave, but their monthly fees were getting excessive while I'm building my business. So, I thought, Spayee to the rescue.
1- I LOVE that there's unlimited courses, unlimited students. This one feature was my deciding factor to purchase.
2- I HATE that there's only MailChimp for marketing email integrations, and MailGun for receipts and whatnot. I don't want to use either company, but that's the only functionality available. Sure, I could set up 20 zaps for my newsletter provider of choice... but still no transactional emails. This is one feature in Podia that I LOVE (lots of integrations, plus the ability to send through Podia if need be), and I guess got used to it. I'll be blunt though: without more functionality here, I can't see Spayee moving forward (and nor I with them).
3 - Great integration with payment suppliers other than PayPal. Thank you.
4 - Straightforward setup, nothing really surprised me, although it wasn't as seamless or pretty as Podia.
5 - Lots of features not available in Podia, like the Question Bank, Assignments and Quiz Reviews. These are great, and I love them, but I still need email functionality over these kinds of bells and whistles.
6 - Some of the language used on the site is... odd. Like under Engagements, there is "Course Wise". I have no clue what this means, in any context, but if you click on it it says "Courses Discussions" and then in smaller print "Course wise discussion forums". Also under "Public Forum" there's something called Doubts. ?? I have no idea what these are, but it doesn't sound like something I want on my course site.
7 - Wallets & Credits - it seems to be some sort of cryptocurrency option, which is cool. I've yet to see any offer similar to this, with this feature. Again though, #2 trumps this and I'd much rather have the focus on email marketing functionality.
8 - Domain linking options are next-level, and excellent.
It's a great system (from what I can tell, I've yet to get a course fully uploaded and sorted), but there seems to be a lot of focus on things that aren't core requirements and more fun, fluffy items that I can't imagine most users would need or want. It needs more basic integrations, more email and newsletter connectivity, and some UX tweaks for it to get 5-stars from me.
