Why I built Spokk?

It all started when I took my mom for a few routine tests at a large private hospital here in Sri Lanka. There were long waits, nurses forgetting basic stuff and a pretty horrendous overall experience.

I would never visit this hospital again, so I wanted to give them feedback. On every floor they had a wooden table with a bunch of printed papers that needed to be filled out by hand. The form was long and annoying and would probably get "lost" before it reaches the management.

This is the spark for Spokk because I was always fascinated with feedback but people make long annoying surveys (physical surveys, google forms, etc.) with no way to get a reply from the company. I wanted to build something short, simple with replies built in.

The first version of Spokk was born with the ability to collect core information in a short 15 second form. Once complete, I spoke to a few businesses to see what they think. Their initial impressions were positive but they were really keen in getting reviews for their business as well. I then understood that combining feedback and reviews was the winning formula.

Spokk, now, generates a unique review based on the feedback provided. This means the business gets feedback + reviews in a matter of seconds. The best part is, everything is easy-peasy for the customer to fill in as well!

Why post on AppSumo?

We ran our pilot in a 5 location spa here in Sri Lanka and we got overwhelmingly positive results. We decided, it's time to validate Spokk quickly, and at scale. What better way than AppSumo?

Finding a solid product market fit, getting feedback from our users, and giving people a solid user experience are our goals for this launch.

How many people are on our team?

It's just myself (full time) and my wife (part time) working on Spokk right now.

Next steps

Our main goal is to validate Spokk and find product-market fit. Once complete, we will look into raising our first round of investments. We bootstrapped Spokk up until now since we are not comfortable in raising funds until we are in a growth stage.

We just shipped two major updates to make feedback collection easier for your customers.

🎤 Voice-Only Forms

Customers can now leave feedback by simply speaking instead of typing.

How it works:

• - Customer clicks your link and taps "Start Recording"
• - Animated questions guide them: "What did you enjoy?" "How was our service?"
• - They speak naturally for 10-30 seconds
• - AI transcribes everything and generates a polished review
• - Customer approves and posts to Google/Yelp

Why it matters: Speaking is faster than typing, especially on mobile. You get more detailed responses because people naturally elaborate when talking.

🎯 Multi-View Form Selection

Not everyone wants the same feedback experience, so now customers can choose their preferred method.
