Update from partner is misleading.

Abandoned project. Whether you paid more $$$ or not, they add custom domains manually, and with nobody managing the product, you are dead in the water.

Unsupported project. Wasted money. And now I have tons of QR codes and links to move from this garbage fire, to something that will actually work and not be abandoned after a cash grab.

We bought LTD, we expanded to Agency, we receive a request for more money (we agree on yearly basis), we see services disappear, we discover that headquarters are related to a scam. Someone from appsumo anwsered without knowing the situation

We were SQR.CO entusiast. We offered to our loyal customers shorturl services (using opensource software and other platforms) and when we found SQR services (with a good interface and a lot of collateral options) we were very happy and expanded the offer buying the LTD. After 2 years they request money or their services would be stopped. Then they said that this was only our choice, no need to pay if we don't want. But we understand that he needs help so we offered to pay, at the start of 2025 an entire year of support anticipated. So at the end of 2024 we checked the situation and see that a lot of collateral (and unused by us) services are gone.

Then we wrote to sqr. No anwser. We found two emails. No anwser. We started to search for more information. We received a request of money (on 1st January 2025) that we refused to pay: no anwsers, no money. On web all is based on trust.

Now we discovered something frightening that goes beyond our imagination and we are moving to lawyers (also checking in Austin/TX, headquarters of Appsumo) to understand if there is something else behind that.

SQR.CO staff (Dave? From holland? It's real?) isn't answering to our questions for a while. We read about companies that saw their services gone (with ssl expiration, service stopped and no support at all also for thousand of users impacted).

The site is up but without any info about the status of the company. Privacy and About pages are unavailable and also server status pages. The official site (affordable.software) is closed.

But now comes the surprise:
searching for other contacts we found in web.archive.org i find the original page about privacy and got this on company information:

"The person responsible for the treatment of this site is W3 Business STQ 2017 SLU (hereinafter Square QR or the Service), with address at Paseo Serra d 'Espadá, 46120, Alboray, Spain.
Email: dave@sqr.co"

And then the surprise! That responsible of data management "W3 Business STQ 2017 SLU" is related to scam crimes (made with QR software). You can check in a dedicated site:
https://qrscam.com/

So now the request is if this is not a simple case of a defunct company.

Appsumo (directly or indirectly?) helped them and exposed their customers to a potential crime in a way that is incredible for us. They know that?

We are contacting lawyers in Austin, Texas to move on fraud basis and it's clear that's not something (any help in a crime) that could be managed with simple "terms" on site. We won't ever know them without your site.

If they are unaware of the actions of sqr.co admins, we think a total refund is due to demonstrate they are totally disconnected from them.

The anwser we received from Appsumo (Dylan Lochhead) after we put the same text you see above, is probably a cut 'n paste text by someone that doesn't know anything. They anwsered like September 2024: "Sqr offer a new support, you can also deny the offer. This is the email of dave (daveheere@gmail.com) and check with him to resolve".

Ok Dave doesn't anwser. What's next.
Hope local police can help us.

Abandonware

Dave up and left us all high and dry. Certs are invalid and expired. It has ruined the platform and affected businesses negatively far and wide. Absolutely shameful.

Poor (NO) customer support and dynamic short links don't work as intended

I used this tool for some time, but the SSL certificate expired for the dynamic short links. I had campaigns running using the dynamic short links and when people clicked on the link, they saw this, "Your connection is not private
Attackers might be trying to steal your information from links.engageddigital.com (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards). Learn more about this warning
net::ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID"

I wrote to Dave multiple times for months trying to resolve the issue, but there was never a response. They had some financial troubles, and I understand all about that, but just ignoring support requests is not the best way to develop loyal customers. On top of that, they launched a new product to try and get people to 'upgrade', but helping current customers should be a top priority, especially if they want to create promoters for their brand.

If you just want a tool to create QR Codes, this one works, but you can find QR Code generators for free.

So much potential with this product....very sad.

Total Scam. Owner asked for additional money. Closed my account without permission

Dave, the owner - is a scam artist. I'm not sure what he doesn't understand about AppSumo not being a contractual agreement.

I purchased this as a Lifetime Deal. A couple months ago, Dave sent an email to users saying he was going to close down the business . . . unless users forked over more money.

Since I purchased as a LTD, I did not pay any additional money. So without my knowledge, he closed my account. I've emailed several times to have it reinstated, and did not get a reply.

The platform is still in business - in fact, Dave expanded to offering an 'Agency' version now.

If this deal ever comes back to AppSumo, or any rebranded version of it, avoid at all cost.
