Q: User abandonment in search of MRR revenue or something else?
Does the AppSumo contract include a feature parity clause or a plan parity clause?
If there is a feature parity clause, is this how you interpret it?
Example:
If you add a new feature to your “Tier 4” plan in six months, you are required to give that feature to all AppSumo customers who purchased a lifetime “Pro” license—even if your pricing or included features change later.
What is your understanding of this clause?
What are "parity" vs " New" features.
How do you interpret which “Tier 4” plan features must be included under the parity clause?
My view:
I believe parity means AppSumo buyers only get the features available at the time of purchase, and not any new features added later. AppSumo has allowed some companies to follow this approach in practice, even though it leaves users with an outdated product. which is it.

Jul 17, 2025A: In the past we have allowed AppSumo users to enjoy the same features as other customers in the same tier. This goes even for features that were released after you've purchased and even after our AppSumo deal was not anymore live.
Our AppSumo users who got our deal back in 2021 are still getting our updates and new features. :)
Hi Ben, Is that because contractually you have to or your just being nice. This is a serious quesion.
A recent deal on appsumo was recently re-mapped from pro to free... Excluding new "plus" features.
I’m not a lawyer, so I dare not say for certain what is contractually allowed or not. But we are nice guys :)
