Another AppSumo deal disappearing. I'm getting more skeptical buying products from AppSumo as more and more have a limited lifespan. Quick money for AppSumo, but those supporting these deals must keep in mind that one must buy any product when they need to use it because most won't be around after a year or two. If you don't have an immediate need, then don't buy it. As for Straico, I agree with others, it was a promising platform in functionality, but the team failed in foresight or foundation. In fact, I received an email on June 22nd indicating there is one month more of use to burn through credits, but yesterday all I receive is this error: FalAI: We encountered an unexpected issue while generating. Please try again.

I guess the Straico team took off to watch the sunset early so we could all see a tremendous amount of credits go to waste. No functionality. No replies to email. Disappointing team to say the least.

Wow, what can I say? At a moment's notice—and with over 600,000 credits in the bank (or should I say down the hole?)—this is a harsh reality check on the sustainability of AppSumo lifetime deals. Very disappointing, and a massive red flag.

I have purchased yet another lifetime deal in 2024 that has only lasted for exactly two years.
How short is the lifespan of your lifetime deals becoming?

The fact that AppSumo is now offering a $10 coupon, only to have it tied to a July 31st expiration date, is another joke and a total slap in the face to their own community.
Trying to profit off the Straico shutdown like this reflects very poorly on AppSumo.

I deeply regret purchasing Straico.

Like many other customers, I bought a lifetime deal expecting the platform to continue growing. Instead, Straico announced that it would shut down with only one month's notice, leaving lifetime customers with virtually no time to make meaningful use of what they paid for.

I still have more than **1.5 million credits** remaining, and it's practically impossible to use them all before the service disappears. To make matters worse, the features that consume credits the fastest—and that many of us relied on—have either stopped working or have been removed.

Google Veo has been unusable for quite some time, and Kling, one of the main video generation models, was removed entirely. Video generation is exactly the kind of feature that helps users spend their credits, yet it disappeared during the final month of the service. At this point, I have no confidence that these services will ever be restored before the shutdown.

What disappoints me even more is how Straico has handled this situation. After announcing the shutdown, they seem to have given up on supporting the platform altogether. Bugs remain unfixed, major services are unavailable, and there has been little sign of any effort to help customers use the credits they legitimately purchased. This reflects a serious lack of responsibility and respect for paying customers.

Unfortunately, this experience reinforces a growing concern about lifetime deals. More and more products disappear before they ever mature into reliable services, leaving customers with nothing but wasted money. Straico has become another example of that trend.

I cannot recommend this product to anyone. If you're considering buying a lifetime deal from a young AI startup, think very carefully. My experience with Straico has completely destroyed my confidence in both this company and the lifetime deal model.

I don't know if it is just me or a broader trend. But it feels like more and more lifetime deals shut down with no compensation before they even matured into a real product alternative.
Like with straico I was always waiting for an iphone app to use it. Or an API that would really work with locally run integrations. But it never did. So again money down the drain.
It seems the era of appsumo lifetime deals comes to an end. there are fewer and fewer products that actually provide value (and are not just copycats or cheap rip-offs).
And of those that are promising in the beginning, most shut down in the next 24 months.
So I don't know if buying lifetime deals is still something to rely on. I will be more reluctant in the future.
